Hi guys,

Probably been asked multiple times but does anyone know of a decent bike maintenance course in and around Kildare/ Dublin/ Wicklow? Getting tired of knowing very little!

I'm a teacher so, outside of childminding duties, will have a day or two off each week during the summer - any bike shops out there need unpaid help/ general dogsbody in July and August?

The best way you can learn any trade is by the mistakes you make.. Only you can make them.
Take a wander down to your local Shop and ask , theres is the difficulty of liability , that they would have to consider ,but always
worth asking . In any situation , there is no better man , than a man that wants to learn.

I could go down the "Teachers Teach "" road but wont.

Thanks for the encouragement. While you're right, of course, that hands-on learning is the best kind of learning it helps to have a basis to start from. As ludicrous as it sounds I've been on bikes for over 20 years without doing any of my own work. It's an odd thing getting to your 40s and realising that you've very little technical knowledge and are dependent on other people. Guidance and observing how people do things is the easiest way to learn for me - I wouldn't ask a kid to do something without providing some kind of scaffolding for the task to set them up for success.

With the shop thing, I completely understand the liability issue but I figured I'd just watch and be an extra pair of hands when needed, learn some basics and leave the rest to the professionals.
