Ok, like a numpty I managed to bin my old coil stick without taking the rubber off. :blast Has anyone made anything that will do the job of holding it in place? I'm thinking about cutting some cycle handlebar grips...?

I wouldn't do that. It gets rather warm in there!

How about a couple of O'rings? Their job is less to hold but rather just to support the unsupported end of the stick (I mean their most basic function - the rubber on the originals might stop a flood of water running down into the plug). My guess is there is already enough grip on the plug end to hold it, if the long free end is prevented from waggling around.

You'd want nitrile or viton O-rings...
