Wanted Manchester Airport

I’m not sure where to ask this seeing as how I still don’t have full access to the forum, but hopefully someone will be able to answer this.

Parking at T1 Manchester Airport for an hour or two, is there somewhere within walking distance where you can park a van? I doubt I’ll get my van in the multi-storey car park so is there a car park without a stupid 6’6” height barrier?

I believe if you’re a tradesman there is special parking for vans that allow access to the terminals.

I’m not a tradesman, I just happen to own a van.
There must be many people these days with ‘vans’ as their daily drive, Transits, Transporters, Sprinters etc. Surely the main airports will be able to accommodate the parking of these vehicles?

If it’s day time I would try the new holiday inn and ibis outside the terminal. They have parking and maybe able to help.

I can imagine you're going to struggle..we did 3+ yers ago and cant imagine it has got any easier..... .perhaps easier to find somewhere offsite to hang about having a brew and getting those being collected to txt when they've cleared customs and then drive to the pick up spot ? (where they'll no doubt charge you a tenner for 3 minutes!)

Yeah I have a feeling that may be the solution. I’m going to have a drive over tomorrow and see what I discover but I won’t be holding my breath

Hi If youre only picking up, then I'd scout around the area, and take a flask and wait for the call then you can easily bob into the pick up area( small cost, £5 ish)

I'm sure I found places to park up if you head towards Cheadle.

sorry I'm not too precise on detail, and I'm sure I found place s if you head off to T2, which takes you to a roundabout, coming off earlier the T1 and T3, turn right and park up round there.

There’s a pick up section of the short stay car park unless your van is over the height limit? Not that expensive.

There's over height pick up parking zones for T1 and T2 where the minibuses go, just before you enter the multi storeys. Over 2m I think it said.

I’m now finally sorted, thanks for all the above suggestions.
So I did a little recce this afternoon and I’m glad I did. I found two locations within a five minute walk of T1 arrivals. The first is the T1 Short stay car park, not the one where you have to prebook but the next left slip road which looks as though it’s going into the multi-storey. Just before you enter the multi storey you peel left and there are no height barriers etc. I think this was £10 per hour so a bit pricey.

The second location is just a few hundred yards away in the car park of a hotel called Tribe, or The Tribe, something like that. The first half hour is free and then it’s £10 for two hours, I spoke to the reception staff, confirmed the details, booked myself in for Tuesday at the appropriate time and parted with £10 Yorkshire pounds.

Worth knowing for future in case any of you guys are going in a large van
