Hi,
Just downloaded the latest European map upgrade 2013.40. When I swithched on my Zumo. I got the message = Cannot Authenticate Map. Does anyone have any ideas of a fix ? Please be gentle as I'm not great with gadgets.

Many thanks.

Hi Allan, just had exactly the same problem updating my new660 LM and I have to say Garmin were excellent with the info they gave me to sort it:)
I'd tried three times using Garmin Express through the MyGarmin site and I got three different outcomes when I tried to re-install my download of 2013.40:(
They first suggested a patch might be required containing two missing files but that didn't work.
They then sent me a very self explanatory email containing a link to the Garmin site which involved downloading new map updater software and a step by step guide what to do:D It took about 7 hours to get the fresh download and install it:eek: However it now works perfectly and my Mapsource and BaseCamp route mapping software also now shows full details;)
PM me your email address and I'll tell you what they said, as long as everythings legit and your entitled to the download I don't see why it shouldn't work for you:thumb
Best regards,
Rob:flag (a Jock in exile!! :D)

I had just the same. Forget Express, use Mapinstall.

With the latter, you also get the option to install to computer as well as Garmin. Download link somewhere on this forum.

Good luck!

Strange times. On a Mac, Garmin Express is light years ahead of the old way. Mind you, on the Zumo there is a screen explaining about a card and what's happening.
On the Nuvi for the car, it wouldnt update without a card being inserted but no other info.
Worked as advertised on both units though. Typical Garmin inconsistency though.

Many thanks for your help lads. I'll contact Garmin & see what they come back with.

this is due to garmin express, you'll also notice you have no 3D maps.

you can ignore the message and just click ok. it doesn't effect the use of the map.

or uninstall and re-install via mapinstall if you have the time/patience.

personally, i taken the 'meh, i'll just click ok and carry on'

you want to join zumoforums.

garmin and software... dear oh dear... 2 steps fw, 1 step sideways, slightly backwards.

Me too!

I've just spent over a week going backward and forward with Garmin in trying to get the mapset on Basecamp consistent with my Zumo (CN Europe NT 2013.4) on my Apple Mac. Try Mapinstall, try Garmin Express they said and sent me repeated emails - nothing seemed to work ....

I eventually got to the point where I deleted all the files on my Mac except Basecamp and got them to walk me through the process over the phone - ironically using Garmin Express - which up until that point had been insisting that all my maps were up to date!

Eventually got the two mapsets in sync. Hurrah! Call with Garmin support terminated. Sorted I thought. WRONG!

As soon as I tried to synchronise the routes drawn in Basecamp (map set 2013.4) with my Zumo, I got the same error message I'd always been getting of "Some routes were created on a map that is not installed on your Zumo 660 (Garmin)"

I tried recalculating my routes in Basecamp having been careful to ensure I was using the 2013.4 map set, and then tried to sync it again with my Zumo. Same error message! :hammer

I'm now totally confused as up until that point I thought I'd cracked it!

Garmin....although I have one I think they are total shite as far as updating future mapping and customer care.

I asked them only the other day why I couldn't download full european mapping on my Zumo 550 and was told "Our units aren't designed to be future compatible"

Well that's OK then......take my money and cut me adrift.

And breathe!!!!!!!!!

I agree

I couldn't agree more. Every time I've tried to do a map update I've encountered a problem of some sort. I much preferred Mapsource - at least I knew what maps I had to download to my unit!

Had the same problem. fix for me was opening Internet explorer "run as administrator", then open Basecamp "run as administrator", manage maps, unlock online, fixed the authentication for me.
