I assume that you realise that this won't work unless you have an unlock code, someone else's will not work with your unit.
If you have a previous version of the mapping, I don't think it matters which version, you can buy an update with an unlock code from Garmin for around £45 (depends on $-£ exchange).
If you already have an unlock code but have mislaid the disk forgive me for trying to teach you to suck eggs.
I know that you need an unlock code. Garmin supposedly sent me an update dvd but I never got it. I phoned them but they wont send another one out as according to them I already have one

As Bumpkin says, Garmin will actually psot you the update DVD free-of-charge.
What you have to pay for is the unlock code - and these are now unique for each GPS unit.
But at just US$75 plus VAT, it's a pretty good deal IYAM.

Yes thats my view too. As soon as the second units ID is input the price to unlock is $139. I've e-mailed Garmin twice asking for explanation but as yet no response.
I have got a spare unused CN 08NT,disc from my zomo 550 I sold, with its code sheet. would it be usable for anyone or will it only work on my old 550. Cheap.
Thank you for contacting Garmin(Europe)Ltd.
In regards to your email,
We have changed our update process so i would suggest you purchase a
full version of mapping for your second unit so in future you can update
for $88.12.

The 2008 mapping update policy has changed. http://shop.garmin.com/cartography/mapsource/policy.asp Any units that have been previously unlocked as an additional free 2nd unit will still work with the previous codes that have been generated for them.
The update policy allows you to update the original licence at a discounted rate. The original licence is the First unit that the licence was registered with. However because of the change in policy you can no longer unlock a second unit for free.
If you wish to use the newly released mapping with a second unit you have two options:
The first is to purchase a complete full copy from a retailer and register the licence with that unit. Please can you contact the distributor/dealer within your country who will be happy to assist you with the purchase of the new mapping software. http://www.garmin.com/dealers/ or https://buy.garmin.com/shop/
The second option is to go to your “my Garmin” account to the “manage map” section. Here you will see an option to purchase an additional region. This will usually cost less than purchasing a full copy version however not all products are compatible with this process. If you GPS originally came with PC mapping software then you will be able to use this process otherwise a full copy version will be required.
