I see from the Garmin website that Mapsource 6.4 is no longer the latest update, it's back to 6.3.

I think the 6.4 update was for tracking around inner London.

Didn't bother downloading it myself.

It show's you are better off waiting a while before updating giving them time to iron out the glitches!

...the version does NOT affect the cartography (the maps). It is only a software update for your PC program?????? The only way to update your maps is to get the latest CN / CS / whatever cartography from Garmin at a price...

I'm not aware of any update for MapSource, but Tony is probably correct when he comments that the updated MapSource application could possibly address the toll zone issue in London, England.

This would not involve any changes to the maps. Instead of setting an attribute for every road in the toll zone, indicating that it is a 'toll' road (this WOULD require a cartography update), Garmin has likely added to the MapSource application what they added to the GPSR software for the SP 26xx series - that being a vector diagram that describes the perimeter of the toll zone. Any road or portion of a road lying within the vector outline is thus considered a 'toll road', for the purpose of the 'avoid toll roads' setting in routing preferences.

I understand that this is how it is handled in Singapore as well.

Are you sure that it was MapSource?

V3.90 of the firmware for a 2610 is intended to "Correct(ed) routing within the central London toll area when using European City Navigator v6 cartography" and is available here.

Well, the impression I got from Tony's post was that Garmin released, then pulled, a 6.4 version of MapSource, with release notes that indicated the new version addressed the London, England toll zone.

I never saw the posting on the Garmin website (guess I was snoozing at the time), so I can only speculate.

When I loaded 6.4 I expected it to work something like Tom Tom where it gave the option to avaoid the toll roads or at least told you they were approaching. Never showed me the tolls /CC when I was up London the other week though.
