Tried to create a route using the Newcastle/Stavangar ferry. Mapsource did not like it. First route via Channel Tunnel so I set a way point for the start and finish of the ferry route - it's shown on the Mapsource screen. Mapsource then insisted that I ride to Newcastle out into the North Sea (from London) back to the Channel Tunnel round to the North Sea off Stavangar and then into Stavangar proper.
Similarly it does not acknowledge that there is a ferry from southern Spain to Algeria so insists on sending me through Europe, Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia etc, 6000+ miles and 5 days travel!!!
Anyone found a way of 'forcing' Mapsurce to use a particular ferry? Have rung Garmin and am awaiting a reply but the guy I spoke with seemd rather confused about it all.
Cheers

Why do you want the GPS to navigate whilst you're on the ferry

I do a route to first port, route from where it arrives to next port etc etc.

Also similar logic for one days run is one route next days is another. But see above if ferries are involved ;)

That's what happens when you think too much!
OK - two routes is the way to go!
I'll go away now and hide my red face in a corner somewhere!
Thanks guys for spotting the obvious - even though I didn't!

ferry routes

you can also set a way point in the middle od the sea then mapsource will route accross water. but as others noted why do you need to route accross the north sea

The original idea was to start from home, set various overseas destinations and then let Mapsource decide which was the better route - say ferry from Portsmouth, Dover, etc or Tunnel. Doesn't seem to like doing it though...
