Dim question from a new owner of Mapsource who hasn't read EVERY thread or tutorial but ..

Just bought a 2610 with V6 Basemap and V7 and V8 updates. Loaded the basemap without too many sagas, do I need to load V7 update before V8 ?

I hope not as I've got the unlock codes for V6 & V8, V7 appears to be missing. Plea to Garmin already sent but I'm sure I'll get a frosty reception.

Any advice gratefully received.

No, you do not have to go via V7 to go from V6 to V8. Just carry on.

Also - there's no such thing as v6 basemap.

The basemap is what is permanently etched into the firmware of the GPS. Even without a CF card, you can still see the basemap.
