Mapsource software

I have a streetpilot 2820 but have lost my cd containing the software for mapsource, can anyone kindly loan me a copy or tell me where I can download one, I have changed computers and moved house so must have thrown original away.

Which version of the software?

You will need an unlock code to make the software work. If you registered the product with Garmin then you will find your code in the "My Garmin" section of their website.

If you don't have the unlock codes then you will need to buy another one.

Either way, contact Garmin. If you have the unlock code then they will probably send you another CD free of charge, for the edition of Mapsource you have rights to.

Incidentally, City Navigator 2008 is available for the 2620 now. You might want to consider taking advantage of the weak dollar and buying yourself an upgrade anyway.

Actually if you have the maps on your unit then mapsource can read the unlock codes from your unit.

Is this in a form where you can actually see the unlock? If so how

I can see that you can either get it from the Garmin server or from a file on you PC (previously saved as a back-up) but can't see a method for what you describe. My 2720 has the preinstalled US mapping and I'd like to find the unlock for that, not on my myGarmin account for the device, that only has my European mapping.

Im not sure if you can see the codes but in the unlock wizard (utilities menu) there is an option to "retrieve and re-install all my garmin unlock codes" Im fairly sure that this option reads codes from a connected device back to mapsource. I assume you could then show them in mapsource.

In Mapsoursce you can get the unit Id.

With that info you may be able to get the unlock codes from Garmin.

I think the info from ianm00 is true also.
