Mapsource upgrade 6.3 question ?

I just downloaded the Mapsource 6.3 upgrade . I then went to open an existing 'mps' file that I have and was prompted by the upgrade to update this file to the new version. Ok - I think....so I proceeded. When exiting the .mps file I was prompted to save to a new format '.gdp' .......

Is this a good thing and will it have consequences if I want to share files with other people ? I suppose unless they have upgraded too they won't be able to read my route files or receive waypoints.

Any thoughts on this ?

Yes Marc,

Upgraded to 6.3 but the gdp file extension was already on the last update. Don't worry about it, but you are right that it will not work for people using the mps system...

By the way what are your thoughts on Migsels mount with the 60c can you reach the buttons. I know I should not be doing this but on motorways with no traffic I do sometimes scroll through the pages...

No problemo. You can always use the File / Export command and save your file in the old .mps format.

But anyone can upgrade their MapSource for free to 6.3, so why not do it?

Suffice it to say that MiGSel has lost his prototype mount for the 1100 He ain't getting it back !! It's really good. I was a bit sceptical before using it but it is superb. It put's the GPS in a perfect position for keeping an eye on it and if you do need to use the controls whilst on the move it's well positioned so you are always looking ahead not down or off to the side as with the standard RAM mount. We have just done 1400km last weekend to the hog roast and around south England and it was really good. 10/10
