MAXXIS TYRES, ANY GOOD?

Had a couple of sets of them on my Buell Steve, to be honest they were good grip in the dry, ok in the wet but mileage was a bit crap. Can't remember exactly but I think only about 4k from the rear, and 6k from the front. PR3's seem to be the weapon of choice at the moment.

I got around 5500 miles out of Storm's on my VFR vs. 3500 or so on most others (or less than 2000 on Vipers)

They also lasted 4500 on my K1200S with plenty of grip in the wet. That bike could destroy most tyres in well under 3000 miles without trying too hard

My RT's only done 11k miles and I've just fitted my fourth rear and third front :(

I had those on my Duc996. Brilliant tyres, but I'd say too soft for an RT - you'd wear a flat on them in no time at all and ruin the handling.

I've been using the Maxxis Supermaxx Sport Touring tyres for years on all manner of bikes. IMO no different to the big name brands for grip or distance but much cheaper. They say the Supermaxx Diamonds are even better but more expensive so I don't see the need to move up to them.

FWR always offers a good price and next day delivery (happy long term customer, not employee)

I do like to accelerate and brake like I'm still riding something sportier :D

I had 3500 miles from the original awful BT021's (the front wasn't worn out), followed by two BT-023 rears and one BT023 front. I've now fitted Avon Storm 3D-XM, but they steer a little slowly compared to the 023's. Pilots Road 3's next I think.
