Maybe Nutty should have bought a Versys...

September edition of Bike - worth a read.

MTS v XR v V1000.

All 4 stars. My sense from the write-ups is that the MTS won...

Read that today

I cannot believe they rate the Versys in the same league but then I have never ridden one !

I got the impression that the XR won but I have my rose tinted reading glasses on !

The Versys forum - heaves a collective sigh of relief!................. :rob

I'm sure if you buy a Versys, spend a bit on shock and fork inserts, some serious luggage..................................

and you have a bike that will last you for years.

Yeah but where's the latest 'must have' cool factor?
Not to mention the swanky showroom with frothy coffee on tap! :blast

Nutty only buys BMWs...............he's there No1 UK CUSTOMER

Not quite, but I'd rather ride a Harley than a fuckin Versys.

And, since when has anyone taken anything "Bike" prints seriously?

A) I don't drink coffee
B) You won't be complaining when you fleece me for a custom paint job!:P

Funny but I still can't get my head around a hooligan BMW - just doesn't compute.

Loved my GS, love my RTLC but when I want a properly charismatic beauty I'll go back to Ducati...

Yeah but...

1. Chris is happy to serve tea.
2. You can custom paint a Versys.

Both very valid points Richard, although -

I've adopted a 'help yourself' policy regarding the making of Tea, this is naturally a facility reserved only for those that bring biscuits to the workshop (and those that offer to drive me to the nearest burns unit! :blast :D )

BMW are doomed.:rob

BMW will never be doomed all the time there are people who aren't looking for good value.

I'm not knocking you or anyone else that buys a new BMW, you pays your money you takes your choice, that doesn't stop the Versys being excellent value, almost certainly a better bike than the price differential suggests.

Crikey, with £16k I'd buy about 4 or 5 bikes ...... none of which would be a Versys ...... However a nice clean 1150ADV, an RD500, an R1100s Boxer Cup and a TTR225 Raid....... now you're talking!! ;)

What I found interesting was their comment that the XR is geared too low....hence vibes....

It does feel like the gears are a bit low, but then that's prob why it's got so much punch from low revs to full speed in top gear.
I suppose you can't have it all, and that's the compromise.

BMW have been making high performance cars for many years, so why not match this trend to their motorcycles.

I think it's long overdue...

The brand will gain credibility amongst riders in general. Or even more older 'young at heart riders'.
They are trying to shake off the image of the staid straight laced, workhorse that the bikes have been tagged with over the years.
I remember back in the day the brand and it's riders were to be avoided by anyone younger than middle age.

Who knows one day Beemers will even make me look cool.:coold.................:yelrotflm

But I take your point about Ducati's:thumb2
