I don't know if you've made your purchase yet, Mr K but with a posh wedding coming up in a couple of weekends time, I nipped round the corner from my office at lunchtime, one day last week, to see Archie Don.

He just happened to have a nice medium weight kilt, in exactly the right tartan for me, which he'd made up for a guy who then didn't want it. Since it's not exactly a common tartan, he did me it for £200 instead of the usual £375.

On the protocol of wearing Tartan or no:

Me slightly Scots, Grandparent was an Edinburgh Morton (sept of Clan Douglas - if you go in for all thet mularkey).

Now, I'd never consider wearing a kilt for a couple of reasons, one because I'd look like a fraudulent twat and another being that Morton/Douglas are Southern and Border Scots (so I'm not sure whether they should be wearing kilts anyway*).

So what about Tartan (Douglas) trews? Would those be classed as an acceptable alternative for a one quarter Border Scot?:nenau

*Which is a pity, Lidl were selling Douglas kilts for about £30 a couple of months back.:D

McAdolf's kilt now ordered. I was gonnie go for the Spirit of Scotland tartan right up until almost the last minute but got put off when a lassie that I work wi' reported how common they were at a wedding she'd been at recently. I just don't do "common" :augie

Isle Of Skye was what I ended up wi' (purely to get the 20% discoont at the Uinneag BnB :thumb2)

At least you know what to wear, I'm stood here in my thunderpants wondering if donning my Clan Douglas trews will cause a constitutional crisis or not.

Unless there's a specific FEB tartan?:nenau
