memory map, who has it and what maps do you have?

I have lake district and the Yorkshire dales at 1:25

Are 1:25 needed or do 1:50000 cut the mustard too?

1:50k of scotland ..........as well as all marine charts of west coast of scotland and all harbours in uk...........


but what device to use them on............looking like I'll have to upgrade to a smartphone with gps that runs windows..............

If you have a smartphone consider Viewranger before committing to MM.

Problem solved.........a mate just gave me an ipaq 6915 with tom tom 6 and all the gubbins for the price of a pint for him and a brany for his wifey.....

I've got most of the UK on 1:50000, which works fine for trail riding.

excuse the newb question, what qualifies for further research when looking at a memory map picture

so far from what I can work out its

+ + + + + + + + = plus symbols indicate BOAT
...... = large fullstops either red or blue indicate right of way likely to be old RUPP but potentially still legal
diamond .... diamond ... diamond = diamonds with fullstops inbetween unconfirmed classification but right of way

any comments on the above?
