Anyone know anything about Meta Alarms?

Just got the bike home, turned it off and after 50 seconds it did the normal single beep to tell me the immobiliser was now on.

Washed the salt off with the hose, dried the bike down.

Pressed the fob deactivated the immobiliser and let the bike warm up.

Turned the bike off, put in the garage, bike again immobilises itself after 50 seconds.

I decide I want the alarm off so press the fob to deactivate the immobiliser and nothing!!!!!!!!!!!! Won't turn off !!! :spitfire

After numerous attempts resorted to using the PIN code method of deativation which is a pain in the arse but works! Bike started! :thumb

Turned it off, again nothing! :spitfire

Decide to replace both batteries in fob but still nothing! :spitfire

Is it possible to disconnect the alarm all together? :eek

Anyone any ideas as to whats up?

I never yet had an alarm on a bike that hasn't caused me some greif!

Bike was bought from Clarks, Birmingham just over a month ago!

Chances of it drying out in this weather?

All I want to do is take a sledge hammer to it!

Piece of cr@p! :spitfire

How about turning the ignition on and then using the button to deactivate the immobiliser - does that work?

I've not had a problem with Meta's and would choose them every time over Datatool.

You could also try Target Technology for assistance. Blair or Peter will be able to help.

If you've only had the bike for a month, take it back to the dealer to sort out.

Dealer won't cover the Alarm as its not under BMW warranty. Meta have a three year warranty but its non transferable and Im the second owner!

Contacted Target as recommended above who were very helpful. They have diagnosed the fault as a faulty receiver however I need a new alarm control box..£150.

Theyre coming out Monday to fit and hopefully all willbe well. :thumb

Having to carefully input the PIN code via the ignition is time consuming and dam inconvenient especially if at a Petrol station. God forbid if I ever stall it! Thinking about it I can't remember the last time I stalled a bike!

That's irrelevant. I would have thought any reputable dealer would rectify such faults without question. Under the Sale of Goods Act items sold must be 'fit for purpose'. I would suggest that 1 month is nowhere near acceptable. Point this out to them and if they won't fix it then sue them in the small claims court. Very easy to do and when they receive the summons they'll cough-up or else they'll be paying for someone else's time to repair it. DON'T offer to contribute anything towards the repair, it's their responsibility and they know it. :spitfire

Target Technology arrived today and within the hour the alarm was singing again! Music to my ears! Never thought I'd ever say that!

Peter did an excellent job and was very knowledgable about BMW's.

If you ever have any alarm or immobiliser problems or just need a set of instructions for a system just give them a bell. :thumb

Glad you got it sorted. Target are top notch - Peter fitted the alarm to my S and rectified it when the internal siren went mute a year later and his partner Blair recently fitted an alarm to my new Fazer.
