So I fitted the Meta Defcom 2>1 alarm to my SA S, obtained from Fleabay for almost a quarter of the KTM price.
Also, the mounting kit was already fitted to my bike, so an even better deal. Maybe they all have this fitted.

It was a plug and play connection but the unit doesn't have the passive arming, where it sets itself after a period of time. However, to me that is more convenient, when for example, at the filling station.

Because of the wiring of the plug fitted to the bike, some of the features of the alarm are not available. I won't list them for obvious reasons.

However, it does link to the LED on the dash and flash the indicators when fob buttons are pressed to confirm the mode.
It can also be set to no sensitivity to movement, if desired.

Be warned, you can press the Ready To Race button and the alarm will not sound if the bike key fob is not in proximity, but if it is then the alarm will sound, so remember to turn off the alarm before you try to start the bike!

Hi Moose,

Would you mind clarifying whether it is possible to just purchase the Defcom 2-1 ( Meta part ABM0034 ) which they call an upgrade, or do you have to get it in conjunction with their M357 system ( ABM0011 ) ?

Thanks,

Chris

I have found the defcom to be a usefull alarm, its a great 2-1 with plenty of features,
as you mention no passive arming which can be frustrating when re arms,
I have had a few v 375 fail,
the other features can be added if you want to de pin the plug and add the wiring to the oem plug,
As it is you have a cheap insurance recognized alarm,

Usually the insurers will only acknowledge the alarm - if it has been installed by an accredited technician, and a certificate issued, I think

Chris,

Just bought the ABM0034. I believe that the reference to upgrade is making the Defcom 2>1 Thatcham approved.

Do you know which pins are used for the seat reed switch? The instructions are not clear.

For completeness, I have found the answer to my question above - the reed switch connects to a plug that is to be found near the main fuses. Either use some proprietary plug & socket or just join the appropriate wires. Saddle and bike already prepared for the location of the reed switch parts.

Makes for a complete installation.
