Where can I get the metal fuel quick connectors?
Broke a plastic one and want to replace with something more sturdy.

JF Hose & Couplings, Preston 01772 323300.

(You really only need the 'male' connector as it's that bit taking all the stress of being coupled/uncoupled).

Sheesh! They're not cheap!
The eBay plastic ones are £9!

Absolutely dead on.

The thickness off the plastic on the male connector where the locking tab from the female engages is only 0.5 mm thick. When they fail, that is the point where they fail, and because the nose section of the male gets stuck in the female portion. The shut off valve cannot shut off the fuel and it just pours out.

When mine failed, I just replaced the plastic males connectors with metal ones leaving the plastic females in place.

Edit
The prices vary quit a bit. Motorworks used to sell the metal ones, but don't seem to stock them any more. Motobins sell them at £19.20 each under part number ZZ13800. BMW sell them under part number 13537700800 at over £20 each.
Shop around your looking for a quick release fitting for an 8mm Internal diameter fuel hose.

Exactly. And I don't want to be stranded with a broken plastic fitting.
I'll have a search round.

I don't get it :nenau

These QR's are expensive, fragile and prone to failure.

When they fail they cause a nightmare and are more trouble than they are worth.

I have a multi tool in the tool box and 2 bolts with a bit of tape on the treads. Undo the pipe clip squeeze the pipe with pliers and pop if off, stuff the bolt into the pipe and redo the clip.

Done, and without worry.

I bought my CPC brass connectors from Tom Parker Ltd, via their eBay shop 'hosesandcouplingsonline'

I got CPC brass ones off e-bay from the guys above. It's the plastic ones that are unreliable, not these ones.

Quick question - does anyone know where to get a QR metal elbow for the adventure tank as all I've been able to find is a 6mm or a 10mm option but no 8mm version. Am I missing something or is it not an 8mm bore on the balance pipe?? Any thoughts, much appreciated.

I may be wrong but I believe the balance pipe could be 6mm. I'm basing this on the fact that I managed to get 8mm fittings to fit but it was a hell of a struggle!

i tried plastic ones and they broke while fitting them i used two from an outboard engine they r brass and metal and work perfectly just had to cut off mounting lugs:rob

CPC is the original manufacture/supplier. The original plastic connectors came from them too. So, BMW knew very well there was a better version available, yet prefered saving a few quids on the lousy plastic ones. ;-)

Sadly accountants get into all products in our modern world.
I would imagine when BMW tried them they worked fine & in the many many cases they have been fine. I'm on my 6 th 11xx variant and other than rubber O rings they have been ok, but most will be 10 yrs old + now and plastic get brittle over time.
So £40 / $50 ain't much for piece of mind...
