mi flippin bike

also worth a thought ,once your bike has had an insurance claim on it ,its worth less money when you come to sell/trade in .
really you should be compensated for that too.

Hmm
I do not think that is a good thought but he can try , probably he will no go very far with above advice ;)

fortunately i wasn`t injured, a few aches no more, good job, otherwise it would of stopped my moutain bike trip.
just in passing whats the chance of the rear tyre having damage which is not visible, as this isn`t on the list to be replaced?

hpi will show up ANY claim made against the bike at all, thats why there is different cattergories, cat d for example could be a dropped bike just cosmetic damage, cat c its had a bad smash and b its a non repairable job salvage only, dont quote me as im not an expert BUT if you come to sell the bike on or trade it in it will be worth less that an equivalent model that has not had a claim against it, a lot of dealers will not touch it at all if its hpi positive

i bought a zr750 a few years ago , it was a streetfighter and looked great but it was not practical at all, took it to a dealer to part ex and they said sorry but its had a claim against it and would not touch it, happened at a couple of places

sorry about whats happened hope it gets sorted sooner rather than later

I lifted a quote direct from the HPI website that says the opposite. I would think the info on there trumps anything else. You admitted you bought your bike a few years ago, maybe its changed.

I know dealers keep records of what work has been done, so maybe they had that information that way.

I thought cat d was written off etc. I bought a car last year and was HPI clear. I later found out it had a new front bumper on the insurance. Does not bother me or affect the retail cost, as long as the repair was done with original oem parts and by competent people.

I think alot of people forget that the insurance guys are only interested in cost vs market value of the machine. a brand new car that has had a bump, say bonnet, bumper and headlight is worth fixing, as the cost of the work is alot less than the cars worth. If that car was 15 yrs old with the same damage, then it would be written off. It does not in any way suggest the car is beyond mechanical repair, or is dangerous or worth less to repair!

i have done some digging on this after my post was disputed, and spoke to two people in the know regarding this type of thing, and you are absolutly correct ,it does show up on an hpi report if any payout has been made on a vehicle by the insurance company.:thumb

Bollocks. Bollocks. Bollocks.

Who the fek are these people "in the know"? Motor traders? Twats from the pub?

What part the HPI check FAQ's as per my original post don't you understand? Repeated below. Have you rung up HPI?

"Your HPI Check will not provide information on every accident a vehicle has been in. Accident damage is only identified where an insurance company has registered the vehicle as a write-off."

well thats that settled then :hide

the replacement parts on order, insurers have oked the work only 7 days after the bump, easter hols will slow the work , but the weather isn`t looking to good so not bothered. i am going to ask dealer if bike cat listed after repair and if so is it an uninsured loss.

Well that is good news.

The question about Cat listed is one for your insurer, not the repairer. Besides, if it was a write off they would not be repairing it, so it won't be Cat listed. Simplez.

no they wernt guys down the pub,i have worked in the motor trade all my working life ,and have met alot of folk in other aspects of the trade ,professional people who have advised me ,that there are few different companys that do hpi checks ,and most of them will advise if an insurance payout has been made on a vehicle .
now i am not going to argue the toss with you ,you oviously think you know better, and i also think i am right ,lets just agree to disagree.

OK Mr Fizzer - answer me two questions:

- What part of the HPI Check FAQ's don't you understand? After all, its not me making the statement, it's them.
- What are the names of the other companies you refer to that do HPI checks? Keen to have a look at their FAQ's on what they record.

[PS - Never trust anything anyone in the motor trade tells you....]
[PPS - Its always good to cite your source when making statements. Quoting what other people have said and attempting to pass it off as fact is almost always a disaster...]

Here we go again, guy starts off by telling us about his unfortunate accident, couple of people have a disagreement then start insulting eachother. Maybe time for a wee trip to the doctors for some anti-depressants or a referral for some anger management classes maybe.
There really is no need for this constant rudeness between people who after all share a similar interest.

Hope you have your bike back on the road soon matey.

i havnt insulted anyone or been rude:thumb, just a minor difference of opion thats all :beerjug:
its no big deal.
in the grand scheme of things its off no coniquence whats so ever ,as long as the guy is ok after his incident is ok and his bike is all sorted.:beerjug:

Sorry, was more referring to the need to write Bollocks, Bollocks, Bollocks.
We wouldn't speak to a stranger in a pub like that but somehow it's ok here.

update

spoke to both ins co and dealer both say same that a repair isn`t listed as a cat c,d or whatever. and will not show up on a hpi check, only a total write off, uneconmical to repair would be listed.

went on to mcn ins compare site and reteaved my quotes, put in gsa as the bike, then the fun starts. with no mention of the accident £450
with the accident 3rd party fault but not settled £650
with the claim settled 100% recovery £650 with `any claims in the last 5 years` £200 extra for 5 years approx. my ins broker (who have been top notch) say thay won`t happen with us. only time will tell.

still waiting for the bike! :(

Suggestion - Get BMW Accident Management involved. They have an interest in getting the bike repaired by a BMW dealer, and quickly. They should get your insurance company sweating....

There is no reason why your insurance co. should be dragging their feet.

Worry about liability later and reclaiming costs fro the 3rd party later; thats your insurance company's job too and one they have a vested interest in.
Yep sometimes it takes forever to get stuff (and payouts!!!!!) from insurers, as Im finding out at the moment. Havent even had a courtesy call back to say "we're on the case," or "So Sorry we haven't called you like we said we would"". Some people are just a complete waste of oxygen.....
