Mirror GS 1150

Just polishing the bike (2001 85K miles) and the mirror head just broke off. Are these re-buildable or will I have to replace the mirror and the stem as a single item.

Just buy a new complete mirror ..plenty on ebay..

And learn to never polish your bike, dispicable behaviour for a rufty tufty bike

The good news is that these mirrors are not 'handed' so you don't have to search for a left or a right; however a popular replacement are the slightly wider and infinitely more stylish mirrors from the R1150RS

Mine’s a 2000 model, but I don’t believe it makes any difference. It’s a well documented mod.

Good for holding helmets, too

Cheers mate. I learned my lesson the hard way in Spain last summer leaving my lid on a mirror. I accidentally kicked my bike (attempting a goose step to get my leg over in between tank & tent strapped to pillion seat) into a hedge that had a wooden fence in the middle. Made a right mess of my recently bought Neotec and took me 2 hours in 40 deg heat to unload the bike, pull it out of the hedge & reload

Two mirrors for £35 from Motorworks. Great value.

I couldn’t tell you, Captain. I don’t have a standard one to measure against and have had these fitted for many years, so I can’t remember what it was like to use the originals. I know that they are a slightly larger mirror and are positioned slightly wider so you see past your elbows better. They do require a small modification to accommodate the fast-idle lever.

I seem to recall the RS stems are actually shorter but the mirrors themselves are slightly wider than the GS standard so the overall rear view is improved.

I think I got mine from eBay.de but anything secondhand at the moment may be scarce.

I have the K1200RS mirrors fitted to my 2005 Adventure and would say they are the best mirrors I've had on a any bike.

Yes, i used a dremmel. Got them on ebay de but from France lol.
