Does anyone know the thread size of the mirrors on a 2011 GS 1200?.... Please.

Thanks Paul, I bought a pattern set of GS 800 mirrors for my GS 1200 which they say are 10m, but there ever so slightly out that when I try to screw them in they start to cross thread also the locking nut looks the right size but it won't thread into the mirror for some reason any thoughts? Any way of getting them on? Someone mentioned a thread adaptor nut I haven't got a clue what that is any help appreciated.

I've just read the advert for them on eBay again it say something about them being a right hand thread! Can anyone tell me if the standard thread on the GS is a right hand thread or left hand thread, I'm pissed off they don't fit sorry if I'm going on a bit.

The thread is right hand - but at a coarser pitch than "standard", it being 10mm 1.5 pitch not 10mm 1.25 pitch which is more common. I found some converters on ebay which work well - if you google "mirror adapter 10mm 1.25 pitch to 10mm 1.5 pitch (x2) for BMW motorcycle" you will find them sold by KiWAV. They cost me £4.47 (dependent on exchange rate) and came from Taiwan in two days, post free! Alternatively, if you have the clamp type mirrors try fitting the pre 07 GS fitting (£5 each second hand from Motorworks - £10 each new from BMW!).

1.5mm pitch for the BMW original is correct. Also the BMW OEM mirrors from the F650GS/F800GS fit ok and vibrate far less than the 'Mickey Mouse' mirrors.
