Took my R1200GS to Vines t'other day for an in-warranty battery replacement after the bike failed to start minutes after finishing my 20 mile commute to work. I must say I was very impressed with the service; as soon as I called them they put a battery on charge for me and fitted it without quibbles as soon as I turned up. They also checked the electrical system over and found that the engine wasn't running quite right, so replaced one of the pencil coils and booked me in for another service to replace a corroded coil connector once the part is in stock in a few days time.

As I said, very impressed so far, but on the way home I noticed that they'd also fitted a new pair of mirrors! They're identical to the old set as far as I can tell, just obviously a lot cleaner. Has there been a recall or something? I'm not sure I can afford to replace each part as soon as it's dirty when the warranty runs out.

No, they just cleaned the mirrors thoroughly to make you think they had...they are messing with your mind, man ! :augie

Mine were replaced a year ago during my first annual service at Motorrad Central East. Hadn't noticed a problem with the old ones but mechanic said the glass was loose in each.

I haven't heard about a specific recall, but maybe there are some loose mirror glasses about and the dealers have been told to check them when the bike is in for a service.

There's nothing wrong with my ones, but that didn't stop me changing them for a set of F800GS ones tho'. :D

Go on - how much?

I was going to dill a hole in the back of mine and spray closed cell polystyrene into the void behind, but work got in the way...

Apparently ST mirrors fit too... They're higher and more 'square'

Thus avoiding the 'Mickey Mouse' comments.....

I quite like my round 'Mickey Mouse' ones.......they add to the retro, out of date, I don't care if I'm ugly, a face a mother could only love, looks!!........same as with the bike!!!! :augie
