I have a slight misfire on over run from my 850GS, it has a Remus system on her, which was on when i bought the bike.
Is this the problem.?.

I am tempted to take it off and put the standard system back on as I feel the Remus is a bit loud for touring.

Any ideas.

Thanks

Popping and farting on the overun all part of the charcter of oilheads.:D
Have you checked for airleaks at the exhaust joints?.
You may need a different cat code plug-do a search as i'm not too sure on the 850s.
If you're unhappy with the remus, switch back to std and see if it cures it.
Someone on here may want the Remus.

I used to have a Remus on my R850GS. Mine used to pop and bang on the overrun too. In the end I put the standard exhaust back on. The 850s really bark with a Remus can on (and the straight through link pipe). Eventually I got fed up with it. I sold mine to a friend with an 1100GS; on his it sounds nice but is not offensively loud. Not sure why this should be............ I have a similar Remus setup on my 1100RS; that produces a nice sound and only misfires occasionally, usually when quite hot after a severe thrashing.

Re the cat code plug, every (UK spec) 850GS I have seen doesn't have a cat code plug, cos it doesn't have a cat. If yours does there will be a wire leading to a connection on the link pipe. Whilst I played around with a BB chip for a while, in the end I concluded that the standard set-up was best i.e. standard exhaust + no cat code plug + careful tune-up.

Hope this helps

I really do prefer the looks of the bike with the Original exhaust - Ok I realise how heavy it is. Having bought a UK spec system and heaving it from the front door to the bike. But I've always been put off by the idea of fitting an aftermarket system as it seems for 'some' bikes to open a whole can of worms.

The only currently available system that tempts me is the 'Staintune' - again its a completely stainless steel affair and so not as light as the Remus alloy - but it does look good. IMHO. (£429)

And they do a 'low' fitment so you can fit full size panniers more easily..

Just remembered..the other reason I went back to standard was because I fitted Touratech panniers and mounting frames. The Remus wouldn't fit in the cutaway in the LH pannier........

Overall I still prefer the standard system on this bike, though it is bl**dy heavy.
