I'm on my way to work but will knock up a few sketches of how to install them with all 4 bolts torqued when I get there.
You're on the right track starting with the rear bolts first but remember that the clamp gap has to be at the rear (facing the tank)

Turns out the pictures used on the add were generic and not the actual risers i was sent. So all is well now im content that there was no mistake.

Forgot to say i am happy with them its just that i was expecting as they were shown in pic. Quality is fine. And they fitted the brake/clutch lines although a little tight i think they are ok.

I am 6'2 and have never needed bar risers, tried them but took them off

Many people are looking for a solution that isn't a problem, at times

I would return those and get something easier to fit, brake/clutch lines look tight too - I wouldn't be happy with that at all

Yup I’m a hobbit compared to you though. I have to reach for the bars therefore I’m putting strain on my lower back and to a lesser extent my wrists. I have relatively short arms hence the up & back risers. Makes it perfect for me.

Some tall people have short legs. Some shorter people have long legs. Some have short arms. Some have long arms and don’t need bar risers.

Hi Del,

Sorry for the wait... below are the steps I took to fit the risers and have all the bolts properly torqued. Hope this helps :nenau

STEP 1 – Set Gap At Rear With Bolts Torqued. (Sketch 1)
This step is only to measure the gap (C) when the bolts are torqued and won’t be the final position of the riser

· Turn the riser so you have access to tighten bolt (A).
· Tighten bolt (A) so there is no gap at the front then torque bolt (A) to 21Nm.
· With bolt (A) torqued, the riser will still pivot forwards and backwards.
· Torque bolt (B) to 21Nm with the gap (C) at the rear.
· Measure the gap with a Vernier or use a spacer the same thickness as the gap.
· Loosen all the bolts again to start with step 2.

STEP 2 – Set riser in position (Sketch 2)

· Turn the riser so you have access to bolt (B).
· Put Loctite 243 on the bolt and tighten bolt (B) to the measured gap clearance in step 1 or use the spacer to set the gap.
· Tighten bolt (A) slightly until it squeezes so you can still pivot the riser.
· Mount the handle bar in the top section of the risers and clamp them until it squeezes.
· Adjust the handle bar and riser in your desired position.

STEP 3 – Torque and Loctite the bolts.

· Tighten one of bolts (A) a bit more so the risers won’t move out of position.
· Remove the other bolt (A), add Loctite 243 then torque the bolt to 21Nm. The clamp should be flush and no gap at the front.
· Now do the same with the other bolt (A) and torque to 21Nm.
· All 4 bolts will now be tight, torqued to 21Nm with the gap at the rear.
· Now do the same steps above to the bolts clamping the handle bar.
· Job done :thumby:
