Does the radio work OK with the SonyEricsson standard headset?

That'll eliminate the radio simply not working as the cause. Then suggest you look at the number of pin connectors on the Autocom connector versus the ones on the SonyEricsson headset for further clues.

Tobers - yes the radio works very well with the standard sonyericsson headset and yes their are considerably more pins on th esony connector than the autocom one - trick is which one is the aerial?

I like Tobers have those custom moulded speaker ear plug things from Ultimate Ear which are bloody marvelous, but they are very expensive £150  but I think they are worth the monet as the quality of the sound through them is fantastic

Ah, I'll have a look into this, cheers Andy :)

Hi Guys

Got my 750i and the autocom connector and just tried it - but it appears that the radio is not getting a signal. I know the lead is also the ariel and this worked fine on my mp3 player radio.

Any thoughts?

Chris

Hmm, I mentioned this being a possibilty earlier on this thread. Not so good if this is the case. I wonder if the radio can be used without the hands free kit via Bluetooth.

Just to update.

I brought the seperate hands free kit (in addition to the one that comes with the 750i). This comes apart at the microphone with a 3.5mm jack. So was able to plug this into the MP3 plug on the Autocom and I had excellent radio reception with retunes etc all the way from the Isle of Wight to Silverstone. Don't know what would have happened if someone had rung me as the microphone was in the aquabox - I guess it would have auto answered and I would have heard the caller but them not able to hear me.

So this gives me an RDS radio (object of the exercise) but no phone on the go - or phone on the go and no RDS radio! I guess there is a way round this for someone enterprising to work it out (other than buying two phones!).

Now all I need to get resolved is the blasted fault of the canbus turning the electrics to the autocom and GPS off intermittently (subject of a longer thread elsewhere) Have used the workround and seems to do the trick but it is a paid.

Anyone else here go to Silverstone for the WSB - an R1200GS and ADV stormed past me on the A34 twice (I assume they stopped for petrol).

Chris

Best thing is to send the original hands free to Autocom. They'll chop the mic and headphones off and join it on to one of their leads to plug in to the Autocom - job done.
