M'off in the morning ... CT125 'Adventure Cub'

That's a Junkers JU88 I think.
Brilliant photos.
I'm not often right, had a thought and it's more likely a Dornier.
It's a long time since I read comics with great cut away pictures in.

She does some interesting travel videos..I especially liked the one where she spent the whole crossing between Amsterdam and Newcastle throwing up! Poor girl!

I gather the met office are adding extra shipping forecast warnings...
'Travellers in sea areas Fair Isle, Faroes, Viking, Cromarty are given advance notice of elderly vagrant and moped trying to smuggle themselves on any ship heading south or southeast masters are advised to lockup deck storage, daughters and whisky'

Dunno about you guys, but I want to go hang with Tommy and his guest house?!
Sure he’s got some colourful stories and his grub looks good. Just pack a bottle of decent single malt and sorted 👍👍

Just the one.??

May I refer you to post 142, which clearly identifies the aircraft as a Heinkel 111...
Yes, the crashed plane was a Heinkel, but the one in the photo isn't, it's a Dornier. The HE111 had a more pointed, glazed nose cone. (Maybe where the two were flung out of?).
Click on the "expand" in my post to see the plane I'm referring to.

Island life? .... got the ‘phone call early evening. A result of Dave’s weather forecasting!

The boat is leaving tomorrow at 10am for Shetland. I need to be on it. Dave has to be at the airstrip for the 7am flight in.

There is a flight in later in the day, but its not guaranteed, The weather is worsening and there won’t be a boat or flight in on Tuesday, maybe not until the weekend :blast

I’m booked in on the Northlinks Ferry Tuesday evening, Lerwick to Aberdeen, managed to bring that forward to Monday evening, they even managed to squeeze my likkle Adventure Cub on to it .... but no cabin :blast

Booked in at Strathmore Swamps Holiday Lets :thumby:

The aircraft that crash landed on Fairisle is definitely a Heinkel one eleven. But the aircraft in Dave’s old photos (supplied by the pilot in a later visit) is not the same aircraft methinks :thumb2

Dave developed them from a roll of film he was given, he believes by the pilot, who had brought it over from Germany on his second visit, I’d love to know more about the people in the photographs.
F'rinstance .... if this is the pilot of the Heinkel, it was his 21st birthday the day he was removed from Fairisle as a POW

That picture is so evocative ... expressive .... I want to climb in to it and be there!

Correct, Micky, and the aircraft in the pilot's collection of photos is a Dornier 217 which presumably he flew as well as the He111. Geodetics (lattice) on the nose confirms

Have a good trip, I think it might be a little bumpy heading for Aberdeen into a southerly. Was certainly very windy all the way down the coast to Inverness yesterday and today's forecast is similar.
Get the trips to the bar in early and settle for the night with a stash :beerjug:

Fair seas from Fairisle Micky. If you partake of a bottle of life giving water, you won't feel the discomfort of a reclining seat. You could end up with a whole sofa to yourself to lie out on. :D

Just make sure you have a couple of waxed bags on hand. :D
Have a nice safe one. :thumb2
I must go back up to Shetland. I didn’t get to see much when I went.
I may do Orkney again late September this year though. I have a month off.

I just went to book my motorhome on the Gills Bay to St Margrets Hope ferry in late September and it came to £282 return. I thought that’s gone up a lot since March 2019 when I went last time. :duno I just looked back in my banking app and it was £124 each way. £40 difference. I can live with that. :thumb2

Pentland Ferries made/making so much money...a million quid a month...renting their spare boat, the Alfred, to Calmac to cover for shortages on the west coast, that they are able to keep prices down.
