M'off in the morning ... CT125 'Adventure Cub'

The guy at the food stall here (Bunchrew campsite) had some interesting comments to make about mein host at McGregor's and his relationship with the local Polis. :augie

Suffice to say that the quote from Walter Scott on the pub wall would appear to have been chosen very carefully and with a view to sticking two fingers up!

Eeked my way further north today, after a hearty breakfast cooked by Gerard. Thank you Gerard :thumb2

Showers and sunshine, bit breezy in places, lovely ride through the Cairngorms, the likkle Adventure Cub was humming along sweetly. Occasionally pulled in to a lay-by to let the ten mile of traffic behind me get past :rob

The A9 closed at Kingussie after another ‘Police Accident’ .... why is it always the police that have accidents :blast

Now safely ensconced in the Tuckers Inn at Invergordon, a lovely place, great meal, right on the sea front of the Cromarty Firth. The likkle Cub cable locked to the rear fire escape out of sight :thumb

View from my room window...

I have four ferries to catch this trip, and I’m in the lap of the Gods whether or not I’ll be able to sail!
The first one is fully booked and I’m second reserve for that, on Friday. If I don’t get on it the whole trip will go no further. I’m booked on the other ferries mind, but at least one is questionable regarding the weather. We’ll see, fingers crossed.

Stay tuned in folks :thumby:

Looks good, you should have dropped in for a brew on the way by

Hopefully you'll get those ferries, Orkney if not?

When I watched the very good documentary on Eric "Winkle" Brown I noticed that there was a photograph of the "Old Inn" in Crawfordsburn behind him when he was being interviewed at his home. Curious, I found out that he had married a Belfast girl while on a posting in Northern Ireland in 1942. Her name was Evelyn "Lynn" McCrory. She died in 1998 but was also an interesting person. A fine singer she performed with Glenn Millar and his Orchestra.

He tells the story of that on his interview on Desert Island Discs. The whole thing is worth a listen but the story of his wife singing is from 33.40 onwards. BBC Sounds here

Thanks for that I'll enjoy listening to that. (y)

Easy ride up to Dunnet, but not until after a grand breakfast at Tuckers Inn ...

That’s only a portion of a full breakfast ... even The Bear (Steve) couldn’t eat a full breakfast at this place :blast

OK maybe he could :D

Very tasty and well cooked. One of the best :thumb

So a gentle ride in a breezy sunshine, no rain, up to the Northern Sands Hotel at Dunnet. Another great find :thumb2

My room wasn’t ready, so Plan B was brought in to play ...

I need to be on that ferry to Orkney tomorrow. I’m second reserve to/on a full ferry. If I don’t get on that boat...

I’ve booked and paid for a 3am freight ferry for my onward journey and I won’t be able to connect :blast

The Orkney show is on this weekend I've just discovered, that explains why it is all so busy on the ferries but I'm okay for Monday morning. Surely one of them can squeeze you on, Scrabster or St Margaret's

Scrabster to Stromness shows spaces tomorrow morning and evening and on all 3 sailing on Sunday IMG_7161.jpeg

I can’t believe they can’t squeeze a diddy little bike like Mickys on that ferry somewhere. :nenau

It used to be the case with both Calmac and Pentland that they would indeed squeeze you on....now they have a fixed number, bikes, cars etc and if they get to that number...that's it.
Mick was on a reserve list, but now has a confirmed booking..the only issue being the weather, which certainly down here in Perthshire is very 'airy' today.

Edit...he's on and they're off...
