M'off in the morning ... CT125 'Adventure Cub'

Do I remember you saying you have a brother who lives on Fair Isle?

Do I remember you saying you have a brother who lives on Fair Isle?
Yup .... brother living on Fairisle, I’m there now :D

Taken a few days to get here, fraught at times, but it all came together eventually :thumb2

The rides south down to Grutness Pier in lovely sunshine was joyous, lovely. It takes you across the main runway of Sumburgh airport ...

A familiar landmark when you fly or sail to Fairisle... Sheep Rock

Unloaded ... Adventure Cub relatively unscathed, mit Bro Dave

Once at his Croft we got the priorities sorted :D

i-6tm8b4X-L.jpg

But we need to change a gas cylinder before we can cook dinner .... how the hell Dave survived here for over forty years with not knowing the difference between a left hand thread and a right hand thread I don’t know :blast

Also on our boat, delivered by young Amie (Fairisle Posty) shortly after we got back to Daves ... Belgium bier and whisky ...

The Adventure Cub has a new abode for a few days :thumby:

I will be riding her round the island, up the hills. A WWII German Bomber (Heinkel 111) crash site. I can’t take you to the place where the Spanish Flag Ship El Gran Griffon foundered just outside the harbour entrance. There is much to see and do on Fairisle. More anon folks .... I’m knackered :sleep

Marvellous, simply marvellous. Sat reading, enthralled.

Glad to see you got the whisky sherpa sorted! Planning ahead. :D The island looks bigger than I expected, I hope you've got enough petrol in the tank....

I have a full tank Simon, plus 2L in the long range side tank. One of the older guys brings petrol and diesel in in large containers and dispenses it. Theres only one road and that is just three miles long. Connects the north and south lighthouses.

An ideal place for electric vehicles. The island was one of the first places to go wind power in 1982. It now has three wind turbines ... there’s no shortage of wind. Excess electricity is stored in huge lead acid batteries!

Heavy rain and thunderstorms forecast for later this afternoon. The plane due today has already been cancelled owing to the wind!

On another note .... The Spanish Armada and the El Gran Grifón
