Facilities for motorcyclists at the Buccleuch Arms are about as good as they get :thumby:

Apart from metal sheds for the ‘bike’s, full washing facilities, also included is a full compressor for tyres etc.

Winkle Brown. His biography (not autobiography "Wings on My Sleeve" although that's good too) is fascinating and well worth a read. There are a few "odd" things in the autobiography which are explained in the more recent book. He specified that it should not be published until after his death. Whatever, an incredible pilot and a complete legend.

When I watched the very good documentary on Eric "Winkle" Brown I noticed that there was a photograph of the "Old Inn" in Crawfordsburn behind him when he was being interviewed at his home. Curious, I found out that he had married a Belfast girl while on a posting in Northern Ireland in 1942. Her name was Evelyn "Lynn" McCrory. She died in 1998 but was also an interesting person. A fine singer she performed with Glenn Millar and his Orchestra.

So here we are in the swamps of Strathmore :thumby:

Rain hard this morning at Moffat ... so much so that Clint and father Dave suggested that I could have an extra night, 'on the house’ so save me going out. How lovely was that, but we’re not made o’ sugar and anyway, thirty miles down the road the sun came out and the roads dried. The scoundrel mentioned there was no whisky carrying capacity on the Adventure Cub, but my route north took me past the Tullibardine Distillery :D

Back on the road and the heavens opened up again!, another detour as I took a wrong turn but enjoyed a nice bumble on back roads, riddled with potholes and cowshit :D

And so now safely ensconced in the swamps of Strathmore at Gerard Mansions :thumb2

Did you ask if you could bank the free night for another visit whilst ignoring the weather? :DD

I know he is a Yorkshireman but he isnt Scottish
He's far from it.

When he stayed at my mate's place he politely declined favourable rates on the basis that he had a business to run and his prices were fair to start with :thumb2

(sorry Micky - hope that doesn't get you thrown out of the Yorkshire club :D)

This is great!
Mickys on the phone to Northlink trying to get himself and his wee throbber from Kirkwall to Lerwick, the only one available is a freight boat at 0300....he's trying to book it but they haven't told him it goes via Valparaiso... :D

Ha ha ..... only wearing my Crocs because of a bloody great bunion and if I’m gonna do a pub crawl with you fellas I need to keep up :D

A great day out guys. Met Tom and Alastair on the train.... two hour ride for Gerard and myself on the train, through beautiful countryside, superb :thumb2

Thanks Alastair (NorthernJock) for organising :thumby:

I’ll just put some photographs up, they should explain everything. Any questions just ask.

Good afternoon had, good pubs with decent pints and weather nice. To be repeated, somewhere.
