I've contacted Monimoto over the last week or so after having problems pairing a new fob I'd bought and can only say the service I've received has been first class. Just to complicate things I've just bought a new phone and messaged them again late last night for help after I repeatedly failed to get my Monimoto to connect to my phone. I've received a reply from Liuka today (On a Sunday 👍) with some instructions and my Monimoto is now back up and running. Great service from them supporting what has been a reliable tracker. I've never had any false alarms you can hide it in a number of places making it difficult for the scroats to find and it doesn't drain my battery unlike the Datatool Stealth POS I had on my 1250GS plus unlike the ones that operate using a monitoring centre you don't get rinsed for the subscription either, it's just over £30 a year for their SIM, though you can use your own too if you'd rather

Due to recent events around these parts i'm now considering fitting a tracker. Ok so the subscription currently stands at £39 a year, so are you suggesting by not paying the subscription and removing their sim and fitting your own sim you save the yearly subscription cost and everything works as it should including the app??

Not being a tight arse but just curious if this is the case?

I think the latest ones use and eSim. I have a 5 and 7. The 5 definitely uses a physical SIM and can be replaced (they state it).
I am not really bothered and prefer to have support, so pay the sub for both.

I can confirm too that the support is excellent.

The fob for my Monimoto 5 stopped working one or two years ago. I contacted them and they sent me a new fob straight away, free of charge (Monimoto 5 was already years old by then and way out of warranty).
I am in the process of upgrading my 5, and spoke with them and they can swap the SIM payments around without loss of months/etc.
With your own SIM you'll have to deal with all yourself.

Despite being a fairly technical person, it's not worth the extra work, just to save 10/20 quid a year IMHO.
This depends on how much data they do actually use.
I have a couple of iOT devices running on some custom LTE SIMs, and with low data usage the running costs are risible to be fair. But we are talking less than 5Mb per month. I doubt the Monimotos use so little.

I've no experience of using a different sim as I've always used theirs. To me it's worth it as I've used their support several times now and they've always been excellent so I just see it as a bit of payback on my part for what is a better and cheaper option for me than the likes of Datatool, who's stealth tracker I had on my 1250GS was more trouble than it was worth.

Doubt that would work. I have the SIM that came with the unit and have had it for about 6 years.

Works flawlessly and their customer service is the best. They sent me a new fob FOC when I had an issue and they reply quickly to tickets or queries on the app.

I recommend and 4 mates also have it.
