I have a R80ST , so mono shock rear end
My problem is oil leaking into the brake area of the rear bevel box. The brake lever pivot has the 4 “o” rings and I have changed these already for the BMW “o” rings from motorworks. The problem still persists and I am still getting oil onto the brake shoes.

I know later mono shock bevel had a solid tube instead of the 4 o rings, but wondered if there was a solution without stripping the bevel box to put in the solid through tube (as I don’t think I have the ability to do this)

Any suggestions gratefully received.

This is the tube you will need
Personally I’d split the two casings to enable removal of the original bushes.
That said,I’ve seen casings that had no bushes and occasionally only had one,
This makes things a bit more complicated as you’ll need to machine the spindle bores to suit

I had a tube put in my g/s.

Solved it in one go after months of backwards and forwards with 'o' rings and lots of brake shoe cleaning and not being able to hold the bike on the back brake at a standstill.

Is the oil definitely coming from the pivot tube ?

I’ve changed the larger pinion oil seal once before and that was pretty straightforward.

From memory, the hard job was getting the old seal out.

I’ve got another drive unit you can borrow if yours needs pro help.

Many thanks for the offer…I might take you up on the loan, and get mine sent off to be fixed professionally.
Can’t see anywhere else the oil can be coming from, main seal between the parts seems dry
