ok i'm a girlie and i know nowt...........can i put a hagon mono shock on me 1200 to lower it?...........be gentle with me please........janie xxxx

As long as you get the shock made shorter, then it will lower the bike.I'm sure if you talk to Hagon, they'll help you out.Don't put a standard length one on though,'cos you'll end up exactly the same as you started, which you don't want:thumb

just been moochin round the hagon site and they do a type L mono shock, which will lower my 1200 by 30mm....will give them a ring in the morning to get the details...................:P :P

you say shock, singular. both front and rear shocks should be matched in length.

also, don't forget if you lower the bike, the stands will be too long.

With Cookie on this one, if your going for a lower shock it's important to fit a corresponding one to the front end or the bikes steering geometry will be seriously effected.

Are you going to fit these yourself?

behave i'm a girlie..........i don't fit owt on me bike.......i'm only thinkin about it at the moment...........goin to speak to drhull they lower bikes.......

Try Kais suspension in Manchester. My wife is a little vertically challenged and this company proved very helpfull. She has a fireblade and wasn't heavy enough to get the suspension working. Decreasing preload etc upset the suspension.( Perhaps more noticeable on a sports bike ) What they did was to use the original shock and modify the internals to shorten it, ( don't exactly know what they did ) weighed the wife, and then changed the spring so that it was more in tune with her weight. Just to level things off they then dropped the front forks through the yoke by about one centimetre. Result is one lowered blade, personalised suspension set up, and only one new component. All done on a Saturday morning. All that was left to do was shorten the side stand. I'm sure there is someone local to you who can do this.
The only difference for the Gs would be to shorten the front shock, rather than drop the forks through the yoke.
The guys are suspension experts. They do the set up for many racers, and judging by the bikes outside are slightly more off road biased than track racing. Can't remember the contact details, but I'm sure Googling them will be OK.

If Hagon can't do it, you could always talk to John Gaskell at revs racing in Halesowen about a set of Wilbers. If you tell him you are from UKGSer he'll probably give you some discount too. Wilbers can custom build your shocks to suit your weight, height and riding style and are very high quality items, supposedly similar quality to Ohlins.

I have a set on order to lower my bike by half and inch and improve the ride.

You could part ex for something smaller :D

Hagon do a lowered shock - have a 50mm lowered one on my GS12. Hasn't altered handling as far as I'm aware, and haven't altered the front shock - BMW Mill claimed it wasn't necessary. You could always go lower again with a TT Kahedo extra low seat.....
I got my friendly local to cut down the centrestand (cost £30). All works a treat.
