I've read quite a few threads about buffeting on standard & Adv. 1150s, it seem to be a GS "thing".
The bike I test rode was fitted with an Adv. screen, and quite uncomfortable at about 85mph - motorway criusing speed. The Adv. screen was supposedly fitted to improve matters. So I wondered what's best - standard screen & torbinators or Adv. screen.

Most of the bikes I'm being show - new or ex-demo, have Adv. screens fitted as an option (@£200ish), if the standard & torbinator is as good I'll be able to get a tank bag.

(Damn them I've just decided on an 1150 and they come out with a 1200... )

Hi - I've just returned to the club after a break - still have the bike though. I hated the turbulence when I got the bike. I have tried an aeroguard which works pretty well but is a giant thing and an MRA screen - which is better. About to get a Tobinator. But the real secret? Take the beak off - it looks OK and you'll be amazed at the difference.

Yup - and if you change the tank and lower the suspension after putting a single headlamp in to replace the offset twin lamps not forgetting to put some nice sensible handlebars to replace those horrible big wide ones no one will ever know it's not a Yamahahahahahaha  or something equally soulless. The beak is the GS's soul if you don't like the beak why bother - you've bought the wrong bike. It looks crap without the beak anyway....

I now run a Tobinated Adventure screen which I find gives more wind protection than the Tobinated standard screen, and of course, no buffeting :D

Eat your own dogfood is my motto.

saying the beak is the soul of the bike is just plain stupid! The beak has nothing to do with its soul.
