More tyres - anakee on the back, normal road-tyre on the front?

Hullo.

Another tyre thread, sorry - I had a flick through the search but couldn't see anything that made it clear...

I've a GSA with a fresh Anakee II on the back, and an Anakee 1 on the front. My riding style appears to be giving the front some abuse, as it's quite sawtoothed now and getting to the point where I need to think about its replacement.
However, I'm thinking that, given most of my riding is on the commute I'd get more out of a road-tyre (I'm thinking Pilot Road atm) in terms of grip and longevity, with a view to switching the back to a road-biased tyre at a later date.

So - has anyone run (for example) a Pilot Road front, and an Anakee rear for any length of time; are the profiles any way compatible?
Granted, I'm aware that you're not supposed to mix-and-match, but I'm exceedingly reluctant to bin a new tyre, especially cos I'm hoping to get more life out of it than the 6,200 of the original Anakee on the back.

Thoughts?

I only ever manage to get 4.5K miles out of a rear tyre on any bike that has c. 100 bhp. :(

I use anakee, hell if I can get much over 4k out of a rear,
BUT,thats more than I ever got from my viffer,2500/3000...ride'um like yar stole it:D

Can`t see the problem with mixing tyres. I run whatever I can get i.e at the moment I`ve a BattleWing on the back and a Trail Attack on the front. I`ve seen a few with TKC`s on the back and road on the front.

I`m sure someone will come on and say you can`t but it`s a GS and not a Blade:thumb

Jesus wept! You know you're supposed to use the front tyre occasionally, too? :D
I thought I was going to get grumbled at for going through a rear in 6 - I shan't worry then.

*nods* That's the kind of confirmation I was looking for - if running mixed with TKC's is usable then the road-manners of my scenario shouldn't be too frightening. Besides, I'm not going to go everywhere at 10/10ths, and, as you say, it's not a Blade*.

Ta.

*But you can still surprise one, on the odd occasion... ;)
