I've got a big big problem and I need your help.

I'm due to change living quarters any day now. My bike is prepped for the adventure and I've got a perm job starting January. Up until then I'm just doing supply work and there isn't much of that about.

So I'm thinking of going to Morocco through last week of November and all of December then finding somewhere new to live early January. :thumb2

But how cold will it be down there?

And should I go or should I stay?

If you leave now on your chicken chaser you might get back in time for easter :augie

The worst problem is getting through Spain which can be very cold. Handlebar muffs are #1 accessory, gauchos #2, then Gerbing heated jacket.

Once in Morocco the areas nearest the coast are likely to be mild, the mountains much colder. South normally much warmer than the north.

Often it's warm everywhere. But if Morocco weather is dodgy, take the coast road down past Casablanca to Agadir, then head east and south from there.

Snow in the mountains will block a lot of pistes in the Atlas, so you won't be able to do any pistes let's say above 2000 m. A nice option would be to take the eastern part of Morocco where you have the choice between piste and brand new sealed road. It is not as high as the Atlas (between 1200 and 1500 m constantly) and pretty scenic too. After that you can play around a bit along the Algerian border in the Sahara and work your way up to Agadir.
The Rif mountains must be nice as well allthough I don't know if snow will block you there.

Take a look here:

Spain can be cold indeed. I was freezing my balls of in april.

Have fun

Did not St Eptoe of this parish journey through Morocco in December or early January?

I think there is a picture or two of the noble fellow, encrusted with frost, trundling along the highway somewhere on the site.

I did a 2 week trip a few years ago, departing on Boxing Day.

As has been said, it was a bit cold in Spain, and very unpleasant crossing the Pyrennes past Andorra (moderate snow).

Once across the Med, crossing the Rif it was as consistently wet as any bike trip I've ever done. Over the other side, though, it was just magnificent, clear blue skies and fantastically crisp early mornings.

So.... I'd say just take decent clothing (esp to keep your feet dry) and if you do cross the Rif, build in a bit of extra time because all that rain washes plenty of mud across the roads making them a bit tricky.

Hi I am in Morocco at the moment, they are enjoying a particularly mild spell right now.

South of the middle Atlas the weather has been consistantly above 20'C for the last three weeks only dropping to 15 or 16 at night.

I am now down in Valee Du Draa and hae taken to riding from sun up (7am) til 2pm, because its still uncomfortably hot riding after 2pm in the afternoon. I have been here for three weeks and seen no rain except on the way down through France.

Well I have been offered and took another job in addition to the one in January, however if it turns out to be bollox then I'll be off.
