Morrocco 2006

Omar Shariff wears black in Lawrence of Arabia , if it's good enough for him , then it's good enough for me. :D

So............................... are we going to Morrocco then ? or shall we continue to discuss what to wear ? :D

You may find it hard to get a beer unless you're in a western style hotel.

Roadside cafes were mostly closed, but shops were open so we didnt starve

Baz

Thanks, I'm guessing but it sounds a little less intense than Abu Dhabi, where my top tip would be not to be on the road in the half hour before sunset.

Would you suggest a nice silver reflective suit?

Silver is about the same as black in the infared where most of the heat is... silver that you get on materials that is - not mirrors. Or mylar film.

I find white material gets stained the same shade as the dust/dirt anyways.

Best to keep moving till you find shade.

To join this convo I'm in two minds on whether to go as only have from 16th - 2nd Jan. That means getting there via France, spending xmas day in capital +- couple days then making way back poss via Spain. Since Bert and Casey (bushboy) are splitting I'll be on my own in Morroco. That scares me a little :o .

Anyone else on a teaching timetable and fancy travelling on those dates? I probably sound like a right pussy now :mmmm

It helps if you actually get to speak to people you know...

Planning my trip for either of the following periods, 8th of April to the 23rd of April or later between 1st of june and the 14th of june 2006. i suspect it maybe quite hot during the later period. Planning to go from Algerciars to Tafira and down the west coast, as far as Safi or Essaouira then East to Marrakech, on to mountain region viaOurazazate back north to Errachidia , Irane, Fez and back to Tanger or maybe Ceuta. Total time in morocco hopefully 10 days. Did a dummy run (not on a bike) the week before last from Tafira into tangier and i would not be anxious in hanging around the northern part of morocco or the rif area for very long. too many grief merchants. I understand from this site and other people i have been talking to that the mid to southern area is much more enjoyable. Not least because i am not the largest gs owner in the world I would be happy to have company if some one can work around those dates

To Jinkxy and any others serious in Morocco trip. Dont care about the colour of jacket and all the other deviations, but am interested in trip to morocco. My wife wants me to take her even though I keep telling her it not just a trip to the shops. Bit worried about going alone as were not spring chickens anymore. Any date would do for us ,but spring would probably give the best weather. Is there any serious interest out there to make up a small group? I am quite happy and have the time to do some ground work.If anyone is interested give me a ring on 07980 102527 and maybe we can get something off the ground.

Its now a choice out of these two dates but wont know until the new year when my mate will be allocated his annual leave
