Morrocco 2006

I saw only two other bikes on a 3 week trip. It proves my theory that most Touring /Adventure Trailie owners are afraid to travel. I'm often on the Dover/Calais ferry and I see so few bikes - it's a scandal.

Shame on you Beemer folk - all the gear and afraid to go!

Your theory's bollocks :D

We take the tunnel - No climbing stairs with gear, no standing sweating in queues waiting to get on/off. 25 mins and you're straight off, straight onto motorway or roads, whichever floats yer boat......................

Also interested in this trip, an attendence list might be helpful...

I may be on an 1150gs or might have to use my current Aprilia Caponord, as the vara chap asked would i still be welcome??... ;)

Any dates yet for this trip?..

Easter

I'll be there for 2 weeks over easter GSA & wife, went last Christmas hols but got stuck in heavy snow about 2 k's south of midelt (had originally told the wife I'd be showing her the desert!!). We'll be heading south probably via Essouira. Went into Morocco via cueta last time, no real problems getting through despite vast numbers of Morrocans flooding back over Xmas break. Had a great time, despite rain & snow. Very friendly people, some great roads. A great adventure...would be up for a meet somewhere south ...?(Especially if i can leave the wife at hotel and do a few trails)

Please clarify?

In Europe, camp wild. In Morocco, dont think of it.
And why is that then?
Dont wear black bike clothes. ...
Because ?

Just be careful to check that you're not camping on someone's roof. :o

you read to many travel books/brochures - it can snow in december :D

Don't worry about other people, they're grown up.

You get snow and hailstorms in June if you are high enough. This was on the final approach to Jebel Toubkal (13,700 ft).

I'm hoping to be there in early January, initially following some stages of the Dakar, then going out to play on some of the easier pistes.

Timolgara you can well 'open wide and change foot' !!

Well pink doesn't really suit me :tosser

For that 'chocolate teapot' answer!

I will assume that you originally suggested not to wear black clothing as black materials absorb heat whereas white ones repel it.

As to your post saying "wild camping don't even think of it" in Morocco....I'll use the same ton of salt for that advice...

You're getting very  in your responses to posts!
How does the above text have any correlation to my original question as to why Timolgara was suggesting not to wear black in Morocco.....?

What's Morocco like during Ramadan?

You may find it hard to get a beer unless you're in a western style hotel.

Roadside cafes were mostly closed, but shops were open so we didnt starve

The Cueta crossing was fine for us only took 30 Mins to get through. Only problem was we booked a return trip but didnt check the ferry timings for the company we booked with, so ended up waiting 3 hours for a ferry.

Don't know but he likes giving cryptic advice.......which turned out to be as useful as a chocolate teapot!! :D (see above)
But then again, I confess- Mea Culpa ! ha! ...I blame the couscous! :D
It was Denis Brown who said not to wear black or go wild camping!
Advice = still null points though ;) are you listening Mr Brown? :P

Happy riding
Steptoe....Hope to meet up with you somewhere in Morocco - who knows!

Thanks for the info about black absorbing heat Bert, never would have guessed that.

and I don't think I've ever suggested not to wear black, Oh and best not wear blue either ;)

Would you suggest a nice silver reflective suit? :ymca
