Had an issue with the battery on my 2008 GSA 1220 Adventurer.
I was going over to Ireland two weekends ago. I went to take the bike out 2 days prior to going. Battery was dead. I put it on charge over night till the Thursday morning. Tried it again & it still would not start. To cut long story !
Spoke to Peter at Motorad & told him about my problem. I asked the question if they could give me a battery, to get me going for the weekend. We agreed between the two of us that it would be OK to bring the old battery up & exchange it as it was still not 6 months old.I sent a third party up with the faulty battery on the Friday morning, only to be told that they would need to see the bike & check the battery as fitted. I told them that I was catching the ferry to Ireland on the Saturday morning & it was impossible for me to get the bike to them that day. To summarise ! I was forced to purchase a new battery at £80.00. Then arrange for the bike to come into them for the old battery to be re-fitted & checked. It went in on Saturday past to have the checks carried out. I possibily was wrong to give them the old battery in a fully charged condition. After hanging about for 2 hrs. The report came back from the workshop that the battery was absolutely fine. The bike has got 5500 miles on it from May 2008. So it can hardly be classed as rarely used! The longest the bike lies dormant is in the average of 5 days!
My gripe is I spent nearly £13K on a new bike. Then they stuff me for £80.00.
In short I won't give them another penny. Looks like I will need to make the trek through to Dundee for the 6000 mile service?
The sales guys are brand new. However the dealer principle, as he likes to be known as leaves a lot to be desired. As I said they have had their last sheckle out of my pocket.
Regards Allan F
