Motorcycle security when away from home

Dijon, was recommended on the forum as a great place to stay, just recently.

Stay anywhere, within reason, and take sensible precautions.

PS If there are fewer bikes in the cities, thieves will move into the countryside. Be afraid; be very afraid.

Avoid Dijon .
It doesn’t cut the mustard

Exactly! Frankly I'd be more worried about riding in UK than in France for thefts.... As stated above avoid the big cities unless secure parking is allowed. I personally find France some of the best riding country in Europe. I am there 3-4 times a year and never had any worries.....
Makes me laugh .
People writing off a whole country as its riddled with theft .
Yet the UK is the worst of the lot !

Back in June we grabbed a last minute hotel in Lille via booking.com and paid with credit card. When we arrived I was horrified with the area and the locals walking the streets so chained the bikes to the reception railings but in full view of the road and car park. The 24hr reception guy assured they would be fine but it didn't stop me going outside twice during the night. It was red hot with thunderstorms and the local BMW driver was performing in his rear wheel drive donut machine. At 6am when I got up the bikes ......... remained untouched🤔. Either the locals aren't what I judged them to be or our bikes are not desirable or shiny enough 😎.
