No idea were to post this.....

A buddy of mine wants to transport one bike from Basingstoke to ~Edinburgh and have another one brought back. He's having trouble finding someone he do this affordably (he's Scottish so cost is VERY important :augie ) ..... anyone have any ideas?

I've already made the following suggestions which were rejected...so no need to rehash

1. Ride it - the obvious.....this is his fall back option and may do, but he's not looking forward to it. In fairness it is a KTM Duke one way and Ducati 749 the other.....I think I'll end up on escort duty. :)

2. rent trailer and tow it...just not interested.

thanks

There aren't too many other alternatives, rent a van ?:nenau

There are plenty of 'Man and a Van' people about who would probably be able to do this.
I don't know how much they would charge.

join the AA or RAC, neither of the bike are noted for reliability, so could get transported to destination

Tell him to ride the bloody things there and back.
Its only just over 400 miles each way.
You never know, you might have a GS convert on your hands.:D

If hes a good mate, you could share the riding both trips.
:hide

Alternatively, rent a van (about 70 quid/day for 2 days) plus about 100 quid for diesel plus night on the lash in Edinburgh.:beerjug:

Just a suggestion

If you are in Richmond and he is in Scotland why dont you offer to meet him half way, swap bikes and then ride back.:nenau Or am i missing something , is he down South too?

Hi Scott,

These people will do it at a reasonable price, I have used them twice

and they are very good.

[email protected] Collection & Delivery Bike Service

New Telephone No 01704505059

They are called Spirit Couriers and I think based in Southport.

Best regards Mack......

Motorcycle transport

Just type "Motorcycle transport" (or Delivery) or something similar into ebay and hundreds will come up. I bought a moped off ebay and had it delivered approx 400 miles for £125. At the time they were offering any distance on the mainland uk for the same price. I was well impressed with the service. Shame I can't remember their name. Bt the way, you don't have to have brought a bike of ebay to use these services as some people believe.

Thanks all, Knew I'd get some useful info. I'll forward the suggestions.

Both down South

I do constantly believe me.
