This question comes up quite regularly.

I have compiled a list of the most commonly repeated names over the last say, five years. Where possible I have included their geographic location; this is in the vague hope that someone with a bike in Exeter, to be moved to Penzance, does not end up talking to a one man and van in Carlisle, good as they might be. Where possible, I have checked that at least the webpage is live.

One company, A2B seems to feature in just about every reply. I have put them at the top of the list, for no other reason than that.

A2B - https://www.a2bmotorcyclemovers.co.uk (always seems to come out top of the list, I guess there’s a good reason for that) - Nationwide

S.O.S - https://www.sosmotorcycletransport.com - Nationwide

2 Wheel Trans - https://www.2wheeltrans.co.uk - Nationwide

Motorcycle Movers - https://www.motorcyclemovers.co.uk

Tommo’s - https://www.tommosmotorcycletransport.co.uk

Bike Mover UK - https://www.bikemoveruk.co.uk

Central Bike Movers - Find them on Instagram - Midlands based

The Bike Movers - https://www.thebikemovers.co.uk - Midlands based

Alien Motorcycles - https://www.alienmotorcycles.co.uk - Nottingham, but also say will move nationwide

For what it’s worth I have used:

A2B to pick-up a motorcycle from a third party’s location (ie. someone’s house) to then take it across the country to a different third party’s location.

S.O.S who came to ‘rescue’ my broken down HP4 and me on a Sunday (arranged by BMW Recovery) to bring me back home from Suffolk and to then take the bike on to BMW Park Lane on Monday.

S.O.S to move a bike from home in London to the Midlands and then move it back again.

Each move was well executed, whether by A2B or S.O.S. I would use either company again, quite happily.

I used these to bring my bike back from Germany They were were the only ones I could find who would bring an unaccompanied bike back through UK customs :[email protected].

Excellent service Would definitely use them again if I had to

The Bike Bus based in NE Scotland worth a mention.
They have a number of vans constantly covering Scotland, England, Wales, NI and the Republic.
Facebook link......

Major failure from BMW Recovery in my case. Sunday pm, West London broken down (hit a bolt and the tyer exploded) after 6 hours they gave up on recovering me. In the end the AA rescued me. In fairness BMW offered me a £££ compensation which I accepted.
I wish I had some contact numbers, Google gave me several numbers which I tried, but I had no luck.

BMW Recovery will contract out to a number of recovery companies, depending on location. They are not in themselves a motorcycle mover / transport enterprise. Let’s not let the thread dissolve into a ‘BMW is crap’ fest, please.

Nice one Richard 👍

I’ve used A2B they are great.

I’ve also used SOS when they were called out by GEM breakdown recovery. I was impressed that GEM used SOS, a specialised bike recovery company, rather than someone who just sling it onto a low loader

My point of contact (and contract) on the day was BMW. I am aware they use contractors
The agent tried 3 contractors, all declined to help, after 6 hours he told me he run out of options and left me to deal with issue myself.
In the long letter from BMW they admitted that "they" failed not the contractors. Hence the generous compensation (I didn't requested it) for the failure.

My point is that the contractors failed BMW. Would be super if in addition to the links you put up there are few companies which also rescue. Having looked at the other links only SOS provide that a rescue service.

Had a chat with SOS just now, they are a contract partner for BMW Asist. It seems that on that day they were not contacted. Even if the driver would have been on his rest hours he would have been sent to me, after he rested.
They work between the hours 06:00 to 12:00 7 days a week. You will have to pay them and claim back on the insurance.
Phone number 01476 584 840
Now saved in my mobile.

In a nutshell, your complaint is with BMW Assistance - who have given you an ex gratia payment for your understandable frustration - not with any specific sub-contractor (ie. motorcycle mover / transporter) as such.

From my rough trawl through the posts and threads, S.O.S comes up second on the list of most recommended names on the forum. Great that you now have their phone number and website to hand.

I can highly recommend EEG&J Transport Ltd trading as "yourwheelsdelivery", I have used them on two occasions in the last 6 months and the service and communications were excellent. In both cases it was for a collection of a bike from North of England (Blackpool and Leeds) which is ideal as they are based in Manchester with delivery back to myself in Surrey, loading and unloading and the protection provided was very professional. To be clear, I don't have any commercial connection to them other than having used them previously.

Thank you. Good to know that they do other vehicles as well. I’ll add a note to say that when I next update the list. Thank you also for adding their location and that they serve nationally.

I can recommend former TT racer Chas Mortimer. https://www.chasmortimer.co.uk/

A friend and I used them to collect our bikes from home and drop them off at a hotel in Venice. All completed on time and no problems. Although know that we have apparently reclaimed our borders, I don’t know if anything has changed.
The second time was to transport a triumph restoration project from the Wirral to Stoke Poges. Again a perfect service

Thank you. The international movers are interesting, as requests for these do come up.
I used to use EuroBikeTrans out of Manchester and was a cheap solution at £500-£600 return to Barcelona. They’ve since folded (like most) after us leaving the EU. Apparently there’s a lot more paperwork and VAT/ duty bollocks to circumvent and not worth the hassle. Overland get around this, since shipping EU to EU.
It was a great service if you were limited on time, but many of us have more time on our hands now - so hey ho 🤔
