Motorrad, A question of Insurance.

WOW big problems ahead

A thought. Our (Full comp) third party cover would only cover injury or damage to another person or vehicle, not the vehicle being driven by us the customer. So Hurst would need to have some sort of cover on their own bikes for total loss situations, leaving our insurance to do the rest. If they don't have that!!! WOW big problems ahead...

As stated by all insurance is a concern to all of us who have been out on a test ride. :(

Lets give Hurst's a chance to clarify the facts. :thumb

A Question of Insurance

Hi To All

This is for those who may have missed the earlier Post re the Above subject due to the site crashing.JIM HILL contacted me earlier in the week and updated me on these matters.

GENUINE DEMONSTRATIONS

Charles Hurst BMW will provide Fully Comprehensive cover for those wishing to Test Ride a bike, however YOU will be resonsible for a £500 excess in the event of any mishaps occurring during your test ride which will be for a PERIOD of 4 Hours. :)

Theres a clause as in all insurance policies that You will be reliable for what is Termed Uninsurable Loss eg. You park the bike and walk away leaving the keys in the ignition and on your return it's GONE

WORKSHOP LOAN BIKES
The position regarding these remains unchanged YOU will be responsible for providing the required Insurance for the period you borrow a bike (Fully Comprehensive Cover), However there are on going discussions about this as JIM knows that Loan bikes are necessry when bikes are left in for service repair.

The folowing may be of help in the meantime www.dayinsurance.com/
I believe it's an off shoot of Norwich Union the cost of a 650cc bike is approximately £10 per day and anything above that approximately £21

JIM HILL is available to talk to anyone about these matters on 02890 848466 or call in and have a chat with him and the Staff (it's good to Talk)

The way you have posted the reply you recieved from Jim would lead me to believe i was not covered when i went for my test ride.

WORKSHOP LOAN BIKES
The position regarding these remains unchanged

That would make it appear that the first part referring to GENUINE DEMONSTRATIONS cover has changed and is new.. can you or he clarify this ? What was the old cover then?

I understand Klinger that you are trying to help here so any of my comments are not getting at you. :)

When you spoke to Jim how did he explain the fully comprehensive cover that i was told i had by the young guy who arranged my test ride?

I'm not so much worried about the cover situation now..because of and thanks to Schwarz's post (and not anything hursts keeping us well informed)anyone who read this and then considered going for a test ride or lone bike would have checked and double checked to made sure of their cover status.

But i still would like the clarification of when i went for a test ride and i was told i had fully comprehensive cover.
To some this may seem trivial after all i didn't crash...
If you thought like that why bother with insurance in the first place then?

It seems to me if there wasn't something that Hurst's were trying to hide or gloss over.. the questions raised would have been answered a lot quicker... six weeks to still not fully answer a question of Insurance cover .

And for any loss of trust or business that Hurst's may have incountered... they have only themselves to blame for not being more forthcoming regarding the Insurance cover.

Hi Tuned

I would ask you speak directely to Jim as I can't offer an explantion on behalf of him or his staff.

I only raised my concerns and that of others because of Schwartz's Post and as a result of enquiries made via my own insurance broker, I never raised any other individuals experience regarding the matter.

In the past six weeks or so I have spoken to Jim Hill on a number of occassions and during our conversations he kept me updated as best he Could about the matter, the Delay was with the Insurance Company they use on the mainland.

As for any loss of custom i don't think this will be the case I believe they have already sold out there Quota of the new 1200GSA for 2006.

I hope that once the Workshop Loan Bike situation is resolved we can put this behind us and continue on and enjoy the Fact that we do have a good dealer/owner rider relationship as i have found all the Staff to be First class and Very Helpfull and i hope that has been the experience of others as well.

Tuned.

Klinger has got off his ass and made a genuine attempt to resolve this problem for us, although not even a moderator or having an interest in Motorrad.

I think its time you got off yours and either called in to Motorrad or lifted the phone, you are obviously very keen to resolve this issue.

If you believe Motorrad were trying to hide something from you then you should take the issue up directly with them instead of carping on here about it.

If there is something more for us all to learn as a result of your conversation with Jim Hill then by all means come on here and tell us all about it.

Jim Hill has said he is more than happy to talk face to face or by phone to anyone on this forum so why not ring him. 02890 848466

More insurance stuff.

Just to add to this theme, I booked a test ride on a GSA (18 months ago) with Hursts. When I arrived to pick up the bike the manager checked my licence, he said as I had two convictions on paper, (both speeding, naughty boy), their insurance wouldn't cover me. Bottom line, either insure the bike myself, or cancel the test ride. I was able to transfer my own insurance (ebike) to cover the test ride. Incidentally, one of the convictions was expunged or out of date but he still refused dealer coverage. Johnnyb.
