Just thought I’d let you all know of my recent experience with Motorrad Central of Glasgow. I was touring Scotland with my friends from the BTBC (www.bigtrailbike.com) when I went to hit the rear brake and nothing happened. After stopping to have a look I discovered that one of the bungees holding my luggage on had pinged off and had lodged itself between the disc and the calliper thus jamming the calliper up. When I went to brake, the pads couldn’t move so the rear brake master cylinder had exploded. Nice.
I broke away from the group and rode into Glasgow, hoping to find a BM dealer. In the centre of Glasgow I met a bike instructor who very kindly directed me to Motorrad Central. I explained my predicament to the techies at Motorrad Central who went out of their way to help me. Unfortunately the master cylinder is a sealed unit so needs to be replaced as a whole unit, even more unfortunately, they didn’t have the part in stock. However as luck would have it, a guy had taken the GS demonstrator out for a test ride a few days beforehand and had stacked it. The mint master cylinder was sourced from the damaged bike and was swapped for my blown one in no more than 15 minutes. On top of this the bike was given a good clean up whilst I had a coffee and checked out those lovely BMW rallye jackets.
Motorrad Central, top bunch of people and absolute life savers.
