Contemplating a pair of TKC80's but wondered whether there'd be enough clearance between the tyre and the Mottorad hugger? If there is, would it be enough if I were to go through some muddy sections/stones, etc without causing damage.

I decided against the hugger for that reason. I would anticipate it getting damaged/blocked up on any rocky off road stuff.

And one of the Baltic trippers found the hugger was scraping the sides of his (non knobbly) tyre anyway.

Comrades......

1) We have a couple of your fellow 1200GS'ers testing our hugger with the TKC80's as we speak......no doubt reports will follow......I'm told that the rolling radius of the these tyres as well as the rim to rim measurement is actually a little less than the OE dual-purpose tyres........but I'll let those testing on our behalf report their own findings......

2) The hugger is designed to primarily suit OE tyres....

3) The 'Baltic Tripper' in question has already had his hugger replaced, as his original one was from of a small batch of faulty ones produced by a defective mould that has since been destroyed......

That is all....

Cheers

I too was also one of those who received one of the faulty batches. Wore away loads of the tyre but was replaced no quibble by Dutchman - quality service and the replacement is a quality item too. Just eager to know how it fares with the TKC's. When will the results be out?

Dunno........we only shipped the hugger to the TKC's customers on Friday & I know they are off on a trip tomorrow for a couple of weeks.......

Patience is a virtue, I guess.....

Hi,

I,m the Baltic tripper who had the hugger problem. Once I got home I had the chance to take it off. Once I saw where the fault was, I just got a rotary lap wheel and buffed off the offending bits.
I then got an email from Dutchman, who suspected I might have a faulty one. I explained I was happy to keep this one as it now seemed OK. He was having non of it and replaced it with a new one. Cant get any fairer than that.
Top class customer service! :D

A friend of mine has both the hugger and TKCs. He says the distance between the tyres an the hugger is the same with TKCs fittes as with Tourances. No problem!

I have a Wunderlich hugger and always take it off when I run with my TKCs - it's just somewhere else for mud to collect so I only use it with the Tourances. (I have 2 sets of wheels)
