Does anyone have recent experience of the Motorworks reconditioned fork stanchions?

My R80R stanchions need rechroming and, in theory at least, the Motorworks exchange service is cheaper than getting the stanchions re chromed by Philpot's. The difference being that I will receive someone else's stanchions if I use the Motorworks service.

Motorworks use philpots for their reconditioned stanchions.
Just be sure to take a good look at the inside surfaces for corrosion etc before building forks back up
Thanks, Mikey. Sound like I'd be better off spending a bit more and going directly to Philpot

I know nothing but.
If there was a problem, you would have too go to Motoworks 1st,
Then they would escalate it too Philpots ,
Then back and forth between all parties for a satisfactory result..

I was visiting a mate who lives locally to MW and had a set of pitted stanchions that needed sorting. Plan was to call in to do an exchange - both parties would see what they were getting and deal could be done immediately, sorted there and then (paid for online if necessary).
Made sense to me but I know they're not fond of callers any more so I thought I'd best check beforehand. Nope, not even for customers who have spent £££ with them over the last 40+ years or so. An edict from on high apparently

All sorts of reasons customers can’t be invited in, no insurance for persons on premises, planning permission not granted for retail sales, customers calling in take too much time away from the main business etc, etc.

All true, but their customer service is not what it was. They used to have a retail counter. Then it became order online / collect. Now it's online & post only. Bah humbug!

I think their customer service has improved from say ,two years ago.
Dispatch times are normally same day,
Phone wait times are better.
Can’t say that no collection counter is an issue for most of their business.
I feel sure,if you were completely in a mess, the guys would make an allowance and let you collect urgently needed parts

I just wish MW would vary their postage. Seems a flat rate for anything you order, so even just a washer or 2 gets the standard price.
