Fanum and I have xchanged PM's on the subject of these C90's.

Bill - Ok .. I've have hang outside the local Pizza place nose-ing around the scooter/bikes and no C90's, maybe 16 year old delivery riders prefer something with more street cred ?.

Anyway .. I am stuck, so to those guys who have these C90's stowed in the garage or wherever, I need some images to view, of the handlebar layout and with the cover removed (if possible) or if, anyone has a Haynes C90 manual for them, then please scan the pages and post the exploded view of the handlebar layout.

If there is no way to get a U-bolt onto the C90, I reckon I can attach a mirror base ball (RAM-B-252, B-272) so it'll need a 9 or 11mm hole in the cover of the handlebar , then build a Quest mount up from there with QPAC-sahara, then tweak on the arm for a vid-cam option. Any thoughts or observations are welcomed which may not be obvious on first glance. :thumb

whilst at River Kings thew other week, I noticed that the ex-poilce C90 that have been donated used the mirror mounts to mount the screens. Is there any milage in looking at a bracket to attached under the mirror ?

I've been having a good look around t'internet and can't find any exploded diagrams of a c90 bar setup....and mine's in HArborough right now :(

Dennis/Speggo/Riverking/Jez......any chance you could snap some pics for Ram Man so we can see how it's arranged??

We can take more on the 11th nov weekend and take a cover off to peer inside but the local pizza boy wouldn't like me approaching with a screwdriver and spanners :D

Mine's down with the local spanner man having a total engine strip and rebuild at the moment (including big bore kit !!!!) So can't oblige until tomorrow.

Big bore kit???

Thass'not fair!!!! :D

Feckin ace though......a bored out tweaked c90 with knobbly tyres :clap :clap :clap :clap

.. that's a GSc90 then ...

Dennis .. the mirror stalk had also crossed my mind and I would prob use a RAM-B-272 (9mm hole), then the weight is likely to hang oneside, and if offered then the moans and groans of having a mount more central would go up, so I thought, if the cowl and handlebar cover is sturdy enough, then I may opt for a Strap clamp (big boyz only on this one), then build up for Quest. I have also seen a concept tweak from Seattle, using a (2pcs) RAP-B-200-1 and RAP-277 octagon separator, so its a twin moving arm (and each rotates thru 360 degs) and I was thinking of adding a 'drinky' cup holder to help refresh those parts... :thumb

I was thinking maybe we could use a camera mount ball adapted to screw directly into one of the mirror mounts. I'll try and remember to take some piccies & scan in the relevent page from the manual.

Steve

You can trap a RAM-B-252 or RAM-B-272 between the stem thread, so you keep the mirror, if you want to lose 'em, then maybe the camera mount idea or a RAM-B-236 (this trick is used on some Yamaha's where the mirror stem is blanked off when a fairing is added.

Thanks for offer to get piccies & scan in the relevent page from the manual.

Speggo, I mailed Bill yesterday a piccie of a 'suggested' RAM mount idea with mount arm and QPAC/cradle and T joint config with drinky cup which I trust he will share with the T*I*T*S very soon.

As to .. QPAC-Sahara it will need to be dustproof as the environment throws up a fine powder dust.
Please consider and let us have answers for ..

(1) Do you need the audio output or have the jack socket cable outlet - blank and sealed off ??

(2) We assume you'll want bare wire end to hardwire onto the C90's. Is the standard 1.8m cable length OK (as per QPAC01-xx) or do you need shorter or longer ?.

(3) Any other tweaks can be considered ?, so long as its based around the QPAC shipped version.

We won't need the audio output Steve....but if it's there, it won't be a problem and will obviously make the cradles more useable after the trip :thumb

1.8 will be fine.....the wires are going to run from battery up under the leg guards to the bars so don't have any complicated routing.
Are you thinking of an inline fuse holder or shall I get some of these in??

I took a load of piccies this weekend Steve...I suspect that they mounts may well be best fitted via self tapes and epoxy resin on the flat plate sourrounding the instruments...the abrs, though fairly standard, have brackets and things as seen below and they're very solid, so they would take the weight nicely but be a PITA to take off, cut aboutm remount and then repeat at our destination to remove them.

The Mirror mount points are also a very good mount option.

Hope these are of some use....

We had a think about the cab mount as well......the GPS cradle will obviously be just a standard Garmin sucker jobby on the gi-fekking-normous screen, but the laptop mount would probably be better off screwed onto the screen-facing slope of the dash (vibrations are a bit strong through the floor and something mounted there would get in the way of the engine hatches)

So something we can stick/screw onto this surface would be better;

Speak to you soon Steve

Cheers

Bill
PS Sadly, Jez has had to pull out so strike the GPS 5 mount from the list ;)

Bill & others thanks for the pics and the weekend pics update it helps.

The QPAC-Sahara is really a QPAC01 with 1.8m wire bare end and inline fuseholder (1.5A rated). The Audio output will be removed and blank to protect from dust.

C90's

To shy away from making holes on the upper casing cover, my instinct is to opt for the mirror stem as Speggo suggested with the covers fitted, but if removed then you could use a U-bolt which is std bits and be familiar on GS.
As to the mount & using a mirror stem idea and to lesson weight load, I suggest, RAM-B-272 (angled mirror base with 9mm hole) which I have used on small scooters (UrgHHH!), then arm RAM-B-201, RAM-B-238, RAM-HOL-GA15 with QPAC-Sa between them. I will leave out the drinky holder as the additional weight may feel heavy (???).

To add a videocam, then on other mirror stem add same RAM-B-272, RAM-B-201 and RAM-B-202A (or RAM-B-237 is small and lightweight).

Van
The laptop is easier RAM-234-3, tray and maybe RAM-234-S1 screen support, mount onto the underside of the tray with a RAM-101 (C size balls .. round base + arm+ round base) and screw down onto the dash with self tappers.

If vid camming from van, then RAM-B-202 (screw down with self tappers), arm RAM-B-201 may be a RAM-B-201-C and RAM-B-202A .

Bill, Speggo and others, check this thru and let me know. PM or call me.

RAM Mirror mounts

Finally got round to fitting the mirror RAM mounts to the scoot. The 9mm size is a better fit and we can mount either the Quest or a camera on either.

It is possible to operate the quest buttons whilst keeping your hands on the bars.

Looks like we may have a simple solution :thumb :thumb :thumb

Oh YES .. !! :D :clap :D :clap

Steve, thanks for these pics and proving it works.

I shall use RAM-B-272, RAM-B-201, RAM-B-238 and RAM-HOL-GA15 plus QPAC-Sahara which *J* is making for us. I know he reads the Forum, so my thanks go to *J* :clap .

Is it possible to operate the quest buttons whilst keeping your hands on the bars ? I suggest the GPS is mounted on the LHS mirror stem so you have some freedom to operate.

How many vid cams being used on bikes ? one or two and then there is one in the van?.

RAM-man

Certainly one on mine Steve....I don't know how many others are planning to take one though.

I'll email the team today and try and find out :thumb

Many thanks for your help on this...and it looks like a very neat soolution!
Cheers

Steve (Speggo) and Fanum (Bill)

*J* tells me 5 pcs QPAC-sahara are built and he is sending them them to me. Also will be a plastic pack with some xtra fuses and long screws - just in case.

You may need to give a tightening up tweak after a few miles along the North Africa brown lanes.

C90's
5 pcs Quest mount comprising RAM-B-272 + RAM-B-201 + RAM-B-238 + RAM-HOL-GA15 and QPAC-Sahara

1 pc vid mount comprising RAM-B-272+ RAM-B-201 + RAM-B-202A (as Speggo's pic)

Van
1 pc laptop, RAM-234-3 tray + RAM-101 + RAM-234-S1 support
1 cab vid mount, RAM-B-202 + RAM-B-201-C (long arm) + RAM-B-202A

I am almost done, just need to sort vid cam for scooters (see above).

I will send later this week. I assume, I can send a box to Speggo unless you/steve pm's me with a different address.

Great stuff Steve:thumb

I'm off work this eweek so I'm in to recieve if you like...dunno how Speggo stands for parcels arriving there??

PM about to be sent :thumb

Err! It's all right for all you guys with the nice new Quests, but I'm running a little old GPS V, I have a TT mount for it, is there anything that it will mount to, as I thought the idea was to have a universal fitting so we could swap the bike around if neccesary ?

Oh feck ..

I have prepped up for 5 C90 scoots ..
5 pcs Quest mount comprising RAM-B-272 + RAM-B-201 + RAM-B-238 + RAM-HOL-GA15 and QPAC-Sahara

So if its revised to 4 sets plus a GPS V, then use this combo..
RAM-B-272 + RAM-B-201 + RAM-B-238 as the diamond sits on the underside of the TT mount (remove metal cable clip clamps), as to the power lead, I shall let you sort out.

I shall send 5 sets for Quest as planned .

RAM-man

Great! Thanks :thumb :thumb

Send the stuff to me. Royal mail is best as I can collect it from the local post office if i'm out.

Regarding the other mounts, i.e GPSV & magellen that some of the guys have, if you can include a couple of extra 9mm mirror mounts, they should be able to use their existing arms & mounts. We may need to scrounge a GPS V mount for Rev Chuck though.....

Cheers

Steve
