Just got my new 1200GS today:D

Got the dealer to mount a topbox and i fancied installing it on the pillion seat, as I ride solo.

So, when I got home, I set about dismantling the top box support frame and when I went to install the topbox mounting plate on the area below the pillion seat, I have realised that mounting holes do not align. Am I missing some type of fixing kit?? I wonder if these were 'extras' that the dealer has thrown away:rolleyes:

Any clarification is most welcome:)

Cheers guys.............pity the dealer didn't tell me when I asked him:mad:

Same thing happened to me, trying figure how it goes.

Not sure whether I'll be able to get my leg over the seat if the top box is in the way though:P

Must admit, I've been wondering how I'm going to get on the bike with the topbox installed as a tail pack.

I've run with tailpacks before on lower bikes and it was difficult to get on and off those.

I think its worth giving it a go though, as it sounds a much more stable setup.

When I have a bunch of stuff on the seat area, I stand on the left footpeg before I swing my leg over. It helps a lot.

I bought both under the impression you can switch easily between the two. But you can't so my bracket thingy for the pillion seat is unused. If I can find it among all the boxes from moving house you're welcome to it. Mail me on andrew dot cranmer at mac dot com if interested.

Cheers
