can anyone tell me what I need to do to get the image to still move when I copy say a free avatar. I get the picture copied into my pictures folder but then the movement is lost.

I know I am a plank but would some kind soul take pity on me and let me know what to do, in short words also.

Thanks in anticipation.

if it moves before you copy it and not after, i'd suggest you're copying it as a .jpg and not in it's original .gif format.

right click on avatar you want to use and "save picture as" to your picture folder. it should say "GIF [*.gif]" in the Save As type drop down menu in the Save Sicture dialogue box.

You'll probably have to work on it as well....I can't see that bum being under thefile size limit if it's animated as it is.....you may have to compromise number of colours a bit.

Use Jasc animation shop or adobe photoready, or there are some freebies out there that will do it as well.

It might just be that you are not looking at the image in something that supports animated gifs - try opening a browser window and dragging and dropping the saved file into that to see if it moves...

Trotsky - got it in a temporary file after dragging it, and it was moving but, like Fanum said when I tried to use it error message came up.

Its a bit beyond my limited computor skills but i will keep trying.....

When you copy an existing, animated gif what does the file end up being called when it is on your hard drive?

Does it retain its .gif extension or has it been renamed to a .bmp ?

eg. it started life on the site you were downloading from as
wobblybum.gif

but ends up on your hard drive as wobblybum.bmp

???

If that is the case your Temporary Internet Files have probably grown too big,

To fix this, if you are using Internet Explorer...
go to Tools>> Internet Options

In the window that will pop up go to Temporary Internet Files.. then click delete files.

Don't know if this is the problem, but it could be..
