Great - at the end of the day they're all great bikes :D

At the end of the day, all bikes are great

Indeed, its the whingeing twats that barely manage to ride them that are the problem :augie They are easy to spot as they are the ones that wave a leg as a gesture of thanks, due to them having a death-grip on the handlebars through fear and concentration

EFA :D

A very positive report in Bike Magazine this month on the Crosstourer in a big write up on the Explorer and its competitors . The previously sceptical journo who was unimpressed when he first rode the CT a while ago said this time it was the only bike other than the GS that just felt right on the road from the get go and he could just trust the tyres/suspension/handling.

He said that at last the japs had a very credible GS rival and that for what on the surface may seem like a bitsa (old chassis / engine rehashed) it in fact feels like a very well developed , bespoke new model from Honda. More like a GS than all the others but with the lumpy bits smoothed out.

Always had Hondas ( except for a GPX750 and an original Super Ten when it first came out) until a stumbled into BMW land. Had always hoped they would make a decent GS rival, shame finances/family don't allow me to buy one now.

Enjoy :thumb

Yes, I saw that report - I certainly don't disagree.

Yes, you're right where once Honda ruled the roost, there seems to be much less brand loyalty these days. That 1200 V4 is superb, though!

MGP: Are you going this year? I'm going, 1130 from Liverpool on Sat 25 August and back at 1630 on Sat 1 September.

I'll try and remember the number plate and see if I can keep up during MGP week ;)

I am sure the engine is a lot smoother than the GS and more powerful - fuel consumption and weight are the only put offs on paper - yet to try one, as not too many about over here to say the least!

What sort of mpg do they claim?
Not sure what "they" claim, but I got 48.7mpg over my last 2 tankfuls, with a mix of motorway and A/B roads, which is no different to what my GS was doing. Over 800 miles and still enjoying it.

If those bikes ever become available in the US, I'll be first in line! Congrats!
