I left Hull Thursday to travel down to Tignes for our holiday. This is my first long trip since I bought the 06 1200. I filled up in Hull before getting on the ferry, started to worry at 160 miles when the fuel countdown had not come on, at 197 miles I bottled it and put fuel in thinking I was going to run out and only managed 15.7 litres. I have full panniers and stayed between 70 - 75 mph on the motorway. Riding on a and d roads in the uk I have only managed around 195 per tank so im well pleased. So the mathematicians out there im sure will let me know my MPG..

Now in Mulhouse on the French Swiss border and heading for tignes tomorrow if I dont drink to many of these fine ales tonight.

I understand where your coming from......my08 has the fuel range on the display from when I fill it up....started off with 411.....then after 200ish miles it had 110 left....went round a tight roundabout and I then had 261 left......com

My 08 GS (and my Super Tenere) are great on fuel at lower speeds, both would be doing low 40's at an indicated 90, drop that to about 70 and the both comfortably top 50mpg even two-up fully laden.

Alpine roads where average speeds are below 40mph gives even better economy with mid 50's being easily attainable on mountain roads.

Currentlly in Italy, have now done 2500 miles, quite a few passes, mostly loaded up and about 500 of those miles with SWMBO on bac. So far fuel standing at 53.3 mpg and rising the longer I ride with swmbo. Non motorway nd slower. I am happy
