MRA custom maps

Currently re-testing MRA. I somehow got a trial as a Gold Member (groovy baby!) so I can test more of its functionality.

Big question for Waps and others that might be a bit more "in deep" with the software and its development roadmap.
Is there a way (or will be) to load custom mapping?

I am now using Here as it's the closest to what Garmin is currently using (not on its devices though, but on Explore), but I also use some specific OSM-based mapping for offroading and hiking.
I'd like to be able to see them or overlay them on MRA as they have extra info I need (read: rights of way).

If you have access to gold membership you can use OSM, google, michelin Open Top etc for route planning there are a dozen options and if your device used OSM for example this can also be used for Routing on an OSM device, for example I use OSMand as well as my route app. But the phone app for turn by turn guidance is based on Here mapping only.

Nope I'm not interested in the mobile app. I'll keep using my own devices for navigating (app maybe just for tracking).

I'm talking about planning the routes at the computer, so the web app. But I really want to use my own mapping data sometimes.

Since its web based you can only use the maps provided.

That said, you can route in Myroute app and view the resulting tracks in basecamp or viking or Qgis for example, with whatever mapping you've got on those mapping platforms.

You should be able to load your GPX file into the apps, which should then allow you to see if your route works with right of way.

I can export a GPX file of a route from MRA and share it to my Garmin Explore app (although there are way point count restrictions - beware)

Maybe the thing to do is to approach the owners of MyRoute to suggest some additional mapping is added. Me? I’m happy with Here, Michelin and Open Street Msps.

I understand he wants to overlay them on MRA - but as that's not possible, you can do it the other way around whilst achieving the desired result.

It's not a deal breaker, but I wanted to check.


Sadly all the web based apps are easier to develop, but come with several limitations, of which this is one.
